This is the only Grado Plato since I first tried chocarrubica around Thanksgiving time. Poured, or rather exploded out of the bottle with a thick head that stayed only shortly, revealing a very nice dark amber colored brew. Subtle yet pleasent aroma, ever so slight alcohol smell because of the 8% abv. Nice heavy malt flavor, very nutty from the chestnuts but also has somewhat of a roasted/slightly burnt hazelnut taste as well. Very good, I’d definitely pick this up again. sebletitje (10477) - Enghien, BELGIUM - JAN 11, 2010
bottle. surprisingly not a gusher.
pours cloudy amber, off-white head.
aroma, brown sugar, chestnuts, caramel and yeast
flavor, malty quickly followed by a nice chestnut, possibly champagne yeast with a light fizzy head, candi/brown sugar, medium carbonation with yeasty palate meshed with caramel, nutty palate and caramel. Lightly chocolaty/chestnut finish. Alcohol is mellow for a smooth mouthfeel.

Tasted on draft at the Purple Pig. Pours cloudy dark amber with a thick off-white head that recedes to lace. Nose of banana bread and malt with hazelnuts as an afterthought. Flavor is caramel malt with nice bitterness and a slightly sour note. The hazelnuts really come through strongly on the palate. The body is fairly full with average carbonation and a long finish that reminds me of Christmas. troyc (2869) - Illinois, USA - DEC 8, 2010
[Tap] Pours a light brown color without any head. Aroma of hazelnut, vanilla and cocoa. Caramel malts backbone in the taste. Nutty notes, along with brown sugar, molasses, cherry, plums and soft hoppy finish. Rich palate and fine carbonation. Exceptionally balanced, with a creamy mouthfeel. This beer is a nice change of pace. danielyabu (1724) - União da Vitória, BRAZIL - AUG 22, 2011

Pizzeria Paradiso, Georgetown tap (sampler): Pours a light brownish color with a small head. Aroma is rather interesting, and for me, was difficult to pin down. There were definitely nuts, plenty of sugar, some unique yeast notes. It was like a Belgian Strong in some sense, but in others very cleary not. Some wood was also present. Taste is slightly sweet. Woody with plenty of fruit. Quite nice. Nische (2661) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - APR 6, 2015
Pours hazy mahogany with small beige head. The aroma is sweet caramel with a distinct nuttiness and a few acidic fruit notes. The flavor is, well, chestnut, with a caramel sweetness behind it. olsvammel (7313) - Örebro, SWEDEN - MAR 28, 2016
Bottle from Systembolaget. Smell of dried fruit, caramel and sponge cake. Similar taste, malty. I never considered this was spiced somehow. Nice malty beer though. fiulijn (21513) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - DEC 5, 2006
Cloudy brown color, better head than the Melissa. The aroma shows some malt and a very light fruitness and hop. Medium body structure, with enough malt flavor; the chestnut flavor is subtle but clear, adding some complexity. A quite good Ale. MiP (16055) - Sønderborg, DENMARK - SEP 8, 2008
Bottle, 8%. Hazy amber colour. No head. Very malty flavour. A bit oxidized but OK. Good alcohol level with creamy notes.
