Bottle, as pictured, pours an almost purple-mahogany with minimal head. Smells of vanilla, strawberries, raspberries. Almost has a barleywine feel to it, though it’s a bit thinner than that. I don’t really taste the chestnuts, not much nutty flavor in it at all. It’s very sweet. baraciisch (3232) - California, USA - DEC 26, 2011
Ruby red in color... Aroma is sweet malts.... Flavor is slightly sweet with prevalent notes of roasted chestnuts, extremely unique... I like it... radagast83 (8059) - Alexandria, Virginia, USA - JUL 20, 2012
Wood clad barrel pour at Churchkey. Poured a dark amber color, slightly off-white head, plenty of lacing. Aroma was notes of malt, with a touch of hazelnut. Touch of sour notes, with some sweet malts. Interesting brew. Wolfbass (1166) - Firenze, ITALY - SEP 23, 2013

Draft at Farmers Cabinet. Hazy copper pour with a rather full off-white head. Lots of complex dark amber fruit. Hazelnuts. Fair amount of medium-blonde caramel notes. Some sour sparkle. Noticeable bite in the finish. Having an aged version. Cleverly better than it first seems. Turtles (2649) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - MAY 6, 2015
750ml bottle. Hazy dark amber. Aroma: Deep sweet and nutty fragrance, toffee, chestnut, cherry, forest. The flavor starts with a very pleasant sweetness, burnt brown sugar, nuts, tofee and candies. End becomes slightly sour, but in a pleasant way. Easy to drink, may lack some depth, still exciting, Nisse666 (7405) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - JUL 3, 2015

Red-amber beer with small transparant head. Toffee, caramel, plywood, and a few phenols in the nose. Leafy, shrubbery flavours, sweet and full bodied, obviously influenced by the chestnuts. Slick, nearly viscous, warming sensations. Good strong ale, chestnuts help without imposing themselves; a bit pity about the nose. joergen (28106) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - FEB 24, 2007
