Bottle. Reddish brown beer with a light head. The aroma is fruity and mildly sour, and the flavour is yeasty, bitter and quite rich. Overall a reasonable beer, beer_est_deus (1327) - örebro, SWEDEN - DEC 5, 2014

Cloudy amber with a tiny off white head. Malty and nutty tones. Malt, fruit, nuts and bitterness. Medium to full body with a nice bitter sweet finish. ChainGangGuy (4941) - Woodstock, Georgia, USA - DEC 30, 2007
Appearance: Pours a medium amber-brown body with a fizzy, off-white head.
Smell: Caramel maltiness and sun-dried fruits with the scent of chestnuts tucked away in the background.
Taste: Caramel malts and sugar-coated nuts. Fairly fruity. The chestnut character is present, but is never overbearing. Earthy bitterness. Finishes dry.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Moderate carbonation.
Drinkability: How about that snazzy bottle, huh? Oh, the beer? Well, it’s okay. thornecb (6151) - Marblehead, Massachusetts, USA - APR 28, 2008
Pours reddish amber into a shaker. Fluffy tan head with good retention leaves spot lacing as it slowly recedes. Sour caramel aromas. Sharp and sour from front to back. Becomes unpleasant as it warms.

Draft... Cloudy amber ale with a small, creamy, white head. Good retention. Nutty, earthy nose with a smattering of caramel malt. Full-bodied and creamy with sluggish carbonation. Sweet, malty and nutty. Mildly bitter finish. Skinnyviking (9767) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - AUG 15, 2008
Bottle. High creamy and lasting off-white head. Hazy dark red brown body. Good malty, caramel nut aroma. Relatively sweet flavor of caramel and nuts with just a bit of bitterness which is not staying for long though. Alcohol well hidden. Low carbonation. cgarvieuk (26365) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - OCT 22, 2008
Bottle at home ... The chestnuts make this sound interesting ... so lets go and see ... First off the its a nice red copper colour ... big short lived loose foam head ... odd watery yeasty possible hint of chestnut nose ... woody nutty ... theres definite heavy chestnut tones ... quite a lot of toffee malt ... medium body thats a bt overcarbonated ... the chestnut lingers long but is a bit bitter ... ITs ok, quite a full flavour ... but its not gonna win any prizes from me, though its drinkable enough ilovedarkbeer (2752) - Arlington, Virginia, USA - DEC 7, 2008
