An old style porter. Smooth and creamy, spiked with port to give it the flavour of dark berries.

On draught some time ago at the Nags Head in Reading. Black with a bubbly light brown head. Lovely light chocolate roast, a beer that is smooth and almost creamy. A decent porter.

Bottle from Coppers, Newcastle. Inky black with a thin tan head of foam. It has a very tart, sour plum and red fruity flavours with chocolate notes and a roasted, spicy, tart berry finish. Ok, but too much tart red fruit for me.

Bottle from the brewery. Pours mahogany with a frothy cream head that fades to nothing in a minute or two. Mild aroma of coffee and berries. Nice malty flavour. Some sweet fruitiness alongside smooth coffee. An enjoyable porter.

Bottle thanks to allmyvinyl. Appearance - opaque black with a lovely crema head. Nose - dark chocolate or coffee with a berry note, maybe blackcurrant. Taste - chocolate, burnt flavours them some sweetness. Palate - medium bodied but then the texture is thin and the finish is a bit sudden. And then it comes back. Overall - decent. Promised more than it delivered.

Bottle shared with AshtonMcCobb. Get to Norfolk Tasting. Pours black with a tan head. Aromas of roasted malt, smoke, stone fruit. Taste is coffee, light sweet. Creamy texture. Started well, but fell off.

Cask @ Navigation Tavern Beer Festival. Mirfield. Black with an off-white creamy head. Has a very heavy but decent roasted malt aroma and taste.

jjsint (3783) - Leicester, Leicestershire, ENGLAND - SEP 12, 2014
Cask at the Blacksmiths Arms, St Albans. Very dark brown with a thin creamy khaki head. Raspberry, chocolate and roast chestnut on the nose. A hint of chimney smoke as well. Sweet and fruity taste throughout. Long warming finish for this ABV. Silky smooth mouthfeel with a slight tingle providedby natural carbonation. Sweet/tart aftertaste. An excellent discovery.

Really tasty bottle conditioned porter. Pours with a nice head, and full of berry flavour.

The_Osprey (10127) - Richmond, Greater London, ENGLAND - JUL 26, 2014
Gravity cask at the Rake. Black, no head. Aroma is liquorice and molasses. Body is medium, smooth, very low carbonation. Taste is sweet, under-ripe banana, some berry fruit, astringent in the finish. Too sweet for me, but it’s fine.
