Cask; Regular. Also available bottled.

A full strength mahogany coloured beer, which has a moreishness typical of a beer possessing the fine balance of pronounced hop bitterness & aroma against a natural malty sweetness, creating a deceivingly drinkable beer.

Cask at Blue Boar, Billericay, Essex. Pours a dark copper with a tight off-white head. The aroma initially struck me as quite sugary sweet with an underlying malty bitterness. Raisin and biscuit notes developed further down the glass. Very bitter and a little oily across the tongue. It tastes of very bitter, almost burnt sugar which morphs into the bitterness that you find when chewing roasted malt. There is a little pleasant digestive biscuit taste but this quickly vanishes leaving a tangy slightly metallic dry bitter aftertaste. A ’bitter’ bitter.

Cask. Deep brown color. Off-white head. Very woody nose, some deep malt flavor. The taste is a bit sweet, tangy. Long duration. Like eating a mahogany closet. Medium texture. soft carbonation. Overall, OK. Very one note and woody. At least it has flavor...

Bottle. Slightly cloudy dark amber with almost no head. Aroma of caramel, fruit, flowers. Gentle carbonation - mouthfeel is pretty much like as from a cask. Taste has toffee and fruity sweetness - pears, berries - mingled with quite big lingering hop bitterness that’s a little spicy right at the end. A pretty good bitter that has bottled really well.

Bottle from Bier Koning. Amber body with huge head. Nose is malty and sweet. Taste of malts, wheat and paper. Creamy and bitter finish.
