Cask; Regular. Also available bottled.

A full strength mahogany coloured beer, which has a moreishness typical of a beer possessing the fine balance of pronounced hop bitterness & aroma against a natural malty sweetness, creating a deceivingly drinkable beer.

On cask at Stamford AFC - Deep rusty body, close white top. Nose is malt and caramel forward, lots of fruity berry notes. Taste is toffee, caramel and the fruity malt. Decent beer.

Cask at the Great Northern Hotel, Peterborough. Pours copper to chestnut brown with a small creamy off-white head. Aroma of malt, caramel, dark fruit. Medium sweetness, light bitterness, touch sour. Medium body, some stickiness to texture, soft carbonation. Finish is fruity, slightly dry.

minutemat (6133) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - JAN 16, 2017
Cask @ Montgomery’s Tower, Shrewsbury. Pours clear copper, white head. Aroma is lightly sweet, some honey. Taste is smooth, with a grainy, sweet, lightly bitter character. Some smooth honey / caramel nestled amongst a grainy malt base. S’alright.

Cask handpull at The Crosse Keys Bishopsgate as ’Grainstore Ten Fifty’, 5%. Dark amber, translucent, still with a light brown head which retains quite well and leaves droopy lacing. Aroma is wholemeal bread, some wet wood. Body is smooth with tingly carbonation for cask. Taste is quite sharp initially - some chemical, varnish, quite spicy and drying, astringent. Then a few waves of bready malt. More gluey astringency into the finish with a lasting breathy aftertaste. Maybe even a touch phenolic or smokey. It grew on me.

UPDATED: JAN 4, 2017 A clear dark amber pour with a small off white head. A caramel malt and fruit aroma, apples and plums. A sweet malty caramel taste with fruity flavours, apples and plum. A mellow lingering bitter finish. Nice.

Bottle shared with JMD at HNB 06.12.16. Dark orange. Uneven off-white head. Aroma and taste of dried fruits, apricot, sweet malt and sweet dessert wine. Very good. Low carbonation and round mouthfeel.
