This is our tribute to the black iron that paved the way to get to the Grand Canyon. Black Iron is a high hopped, fragrant ale that is as deep and as wide as the Grand Canyon itself!

Can thanks to Josh! Pours a clear gold with a slight orange hue and a white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a light resinous pine note with a good amount of grass and grain backing. Flavor has same resinous pine note with a touch of sweet citrus and a grain and grass backbone.

For some reason I thought this was going to be a black IPA. Well it’s a dark gold. Middle of the road or slightly below IPA. More floral, and kinda malty for what I thought would be a west coast style.

Amber color with a good sized frothy white head. Vaguely sweet with moderate vague bitterness. Meh.

If it’s consistently bland at least thats something. This is anything but an IPA. A mediocre Scottish Ale at best but very little chance this would have had enough hops to make the trek to British Troops in India much less outside of AZ.

AKORN (220) - Virginia, USA - APR 2, 2014
Weak aroma. Malt, caramel, hops, bitters with some sweetness flavors. Dark golden color with a lite head. OK beer.

25oz on tap (yeah!). Pretty decent IPA, apricot notes, slightly grassy, nothing to set it apart from the pack unfortunately. Not a bad beer, though, and completely drinkable. I can’t fault them much for having a very basic, IPA.

jdobbs (411) - New Brunswick, CANADA - MAR 23, 2014
pours golden with a thin, white head and no lacing. Taste is surprisingly malty to start followed by some bitter, hoppiness at the end with a touch of citrus that lingers on the palate.

New year’s eve can in the Wigwam hot tub. Surprised this isn’t rated higher. Pretty tasty black ipa with a good citrus and pine hop bitterness plus some malt strength to keep it balanced. Tasty.

Can from BevMo, Phoenix. Strong hoppy aroma with a hint of citrus. Pours golden with a thin, white head and no lacing. Taste is surprisingly malty to start followed by some bitter, hoppiness at the end with a touch of citrus that lingers on the palate. Not bad. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
