22 oz. bottle. pours a thinnish head, with minimal lacing over dark brown body....nose of slight smoke, with molasses....tastes of smoky malts with minimal hop bitterness on the finish, dry overall....rather light mouth feel, and overall too thin and uncomplicated for a Scotch Ale, and lacking malty sweetness. marcus (10890) - Sacramento, California, USA - OCT 20, 2008
This dark brown ale poured with no head - just a few bubbles - and a strong chocolate aroma. There is a hearty smoked malt flavor with lots of chocolate and some raisin. A bit thinner than one would expect in a scotch ale, but otherwise a pretty good brew. Dmalone102 (223) - Denver, Colorado, USA - OCT 19, 2008
I really like this beer! It was on the dark side of the style, and had a great roasty/chocolatey flavor. It went down very well and was not a bit harsh. MrChopin (4305) - Baltimore, Maryland, USA - OCT 18, 2008

Pours tepid red-brown, a culture-like head that fizzes out in seconds , leaving a pretty lifeless beer. Nose has chocolate, a little peat, some alcohol. Decent sized body but so lifeless. Almost no bitterness at all. Sweet chocolate, peat flavor. Lots of lingering smoke. You’ll probably like this if you like whisky, but it’s rather flat and empty.
Bottle from Liquor Max in Loveland, CO. Pours dark brown with garnet aspects. Not much head. Rich malty aroma that seems to have chocolate accompaniment. Body is thinner than expected. Carbonation is minimal. Flavor is malty, smoky, coffee, chocolate and dark fruits. Despite expectations it is not all that sweet and the finish is neutral, perhaps toward astringent. The darker flavors tend to build interestingly.

(Bottle, thanks to omhper) Pours dark brown with red hints. The aroma is light burned and smoky with undertones of coffee, raisins and salt liquorice. Quite malty. The flavour is light burned and smoky with milder notes of raisins, caramel and chocolate. Medium sweet and light bitter. The mouthfeel is soft and clean with a light carbonation. Medium bodied. Dark brown. Chewy, chocolatey, with really not much peat. Some peat, chocolate. Soft, oily body. Fairly peaty finish with some astringency. rallison (116) - USA - AUG 21, 2008
All in all a nice scotch ale. Reddish dark brown color with a minimal head. Sweet and smoky in the smell. Taste is smoky, toasted caramel, dried fruits. Light on the tongue given the 8%. Good overall. Beershine (5253) - VANCOUVER, British Columbia, CANADA - AUG 20, 2008
At Vero. Dark, muddled brown. No head. Prune liquer, triple burnt caramel. Smokey, sweet, quite nice. Soft, low carbonation, peat. A little syrupy but a nice mix of flavors. smith4498 (3700) - Winter Springs, Florida, USA - AUG 14, 2008
