pours cloudy amber-red with a decent beige head, little retention. caramel and lightly toasted malts - some complexity and sweetness, grassy herbal hopping. dusty and earthy yeastiness, light pine and resin, short but fairly present citrusy finish. average carbonation, medium body. nice but too much caramel for me. solidfunk (9009) - Washington D.C., Washington DC, USA - MAY 28, 2012
Smell of hops. Strong hops and sharp bitter barley taste. Pours amber with a decently lasting head and little tracing. I’d like to try this again a little fresher - it would probably be a stronger brew. There’s a hint of caramel in there and a little woodiness, too. Bottle. Bottle traded by TheJester. Thanks a bunch. Had this one on my short list for ages! It pours bit hazy amber with a medium off white head. The aroma is quite malty and fruity with lovely hoppy and earthy notes. Sweet hoppy flavour with notes of berries and toasted malt. Some fruity hops as well. Nice balanced and a WORLD CLASS name :) after4ever (8025) - Mukilteo, Washington, USA - SEP 26, 2009

Growler at 2007 Golden Tap Awards, beerbistro. Pours a clear amber-copper with a good size mostly-lasting off-white head. Mild aroma of caramel malt, grain, light roastness and some light yeasty sweetness. Flavour has a good amount of resiny hops, some lightly roasted malt and a nice bitter finish. Average to medium bodied. Good stuff, very well done.

500ml bottle. Clear amber colour with average to huge, frothy, fairly lasting, minimally lacing, beige head. Slighty grainy aroma, bitter hoppy overtones, inexplicable fruitiness. Taste is moderately bitter hoppy, fruity, a mixture of red berries and yellow stone fruit, nut paring dryness. Not concrete, somehow simply hoppy and malty. New metaphors required. Bottled on 4/14/09. Poured clear, medium garnet with a short, creamy cap of yellowy-beige head. The aroma picked up toasted caramel and nutty notes with an ample dose of juicy grapefruit, pine, and earthy hoppage.. sappy sweetness emerged as it warmed up. The flavor had caramel, darker fruit, and berry sweetness at the core, but the hops were a bit of a mess.. sticky grapefruit, pine, and peppery notes didn’t play well with each other or the malts.. finished bitter and sharp. Light-medium bodied, with an empty feel at times on the palate.. again it didn’t flow too well and ended very bitter. Lost some ground after the initial impression. Appearance :Amber gold with golden fine top.
Nose :Sweet .candy like malt aroma, herbal aroma behind.
Medium bodied, aromatic soft but thinish. Caramel with herbal strike with hint of green bitterness. Fruity finish. Not especially coherent.
Draught. At Volo. Clear amber with an average off-white head. Leathery aroma - reminded me of a decent Merlot - burnt malt and UK hops, bitter and dry. Very bitter and burnt UK hop aroma, lots of toaty malt backing, long herbal-bitter finish. Average body, very astringent and carbonized moutfeel, bitter aftertaste - solid effort, I’d have it again .... I love the leathery character to this. Bottle: Poured a deep amber color ale with a large foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of dry caramel malt with subtle grainy flavor. Taste is dryer then I had anticipated with good caramel malt and dry finish. Hops are not overly distinct and ester are somewhat lacking. Body is about average with good carbonation. Not bad overall but I would say that this was below average for this brewer.
