Bottle, thanks to alexsdad06 for sharing. Dark fruit up front, heavy roast, little bit burnt. Mild smoke in the finish, some paper. Very dark brown color, with a thin tan bubbly head. Leaves some ridges and bits of lace. Kind of an astringent bitter after taste, not very pleasant. Pretty dry, minimal sweetness. Just a touch of tart. Tannic. Medium to bigger body. Light carbonation. Ultra dry and astringent finish impedes drinkability. Not at all a fan of this. Seems as if it’s way past it’s prime.

Dark complexion with red hue. Thick beige head laces glass. Malt scent lends to impression of sweetness yet flavor is decidedly bitter with lasting aftertaste. Hints of chocolate, coffee. Delicious and warm in mouth. Great stout.

KoNrRiI (1611) - Århus, DENMARK - NOV 29, 2015
0.5 bottle. Clear, very dark brown color and a large, tanned head leaving a delicate lacing. Aroma of fruits, licorice, molasses, and dark malts. Taste of dark malts, iron, figs, fruity sourness, some roast, a spicy hint of alcohol, and some chocolate. A full body, a creamy texture, and a soft carbonation. Finish is way too sour, it does not seem to be an unusual thing for the beer as it has this sour disposition incorporated in the main flavor. Overall not a bad beer but its sourness gets increasingly obnoxious with time.

(Grand River Russian Gun Imperial Stout) Bottle 500 ml at home, served into a snifter, ABV 8.5% Dark brown, almost black colour on the body, with a huge and frothy tan head on top, with very good retention. Aroma of chocolate, malts, funk, barnyard, vinous notes. Taste is sour, something went wrong here, vinous notes, faint chocolate, faint roasted malts. Medium thin body, high carbonation. Nothing to do here.

500ml bottle. Darkest brown colour with ruby red glimmer and huge, frothy, fairly lasting, minimally lacing, beige head. Sweet-ish, chocolately aroma, hints of cocoa, vanilla, hundreds and thousands, a touch of anise. Taste is dark malty minimally roasty, slightly chocolately, dark and milk chocolate, a touch of cocoa, liquorice, anise, some red berry tartness. Fair complexity, rather light body.

Ça me plaît.

2013 bottle. Nice anise and dark stone fruit aroma with a slight alcohol bite. Taste is more of a dark Barleywine but awesome fruitiness and the anise licorice comes through in a very good way. Very well done.

superspak (5887) - Waterford, Michigan, USA - JUN 16, 2015
16 ounce bottle into snifter, bottled on 3/13/2015. Pours fairly opaque dark brown/black color with a 1-2 finger dense khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, molasses, toast, dark bread, light dark fruit, herbal, wood, light char, and yeast/roasted earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/roasted/bready malt, earthy hops, and light fruity yeast notes; with solid strength. Taste of big dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, molasses, toast, dark bread, light smoke/char, herbal, wood, light dark fruit, and yeast/roasted earthiness. Good amount of herbal/wood char bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, molasses, toast, dark bread, light smoke/char, herbal, wood, and yeast/roasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roasted/bready malt, earthy hops, and light fruity yeast flavors; with a nice roasted bitterness/sweetness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light carbonation and medium bodied; with a very smooth and fairly creamy/sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a slight warmth lingering after the finish. Overall this is a very good Russian imperial stout style. All around good complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roasted/bready malt, earthy hops, and light fruity yeast flavors; and very smooth to sip on for the ABV. A nicely enjoyable offering.

jamaty (2234) - Madrid, SPAIN - JUN 4, 2015
Negra opaca.
