3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Dark mahogany brown coloring with a thick tan head. Medium body. Very earthy, malty aroma. Long bitter finish. A strong, tasty beer.
12oz bottle @ home. Pours deep mahogany with ruby edges. Large creamy white head with good lacing. The nose is roasted malt and nuts with dark, dried fruit. The flavors start out the same way, roasty flavors, raisins, malt, then changes personality to hoppy bitterness. Finishes hoppy as well. Interesting take, tasty. Draft at Ben’s tune up. Pours dark brown with a thick khaki head. Leaves a lot of lacing in the glass. Fairly malty on the nose and tongue. There’s some pine bitterness on the tongue which adds some complexity. Finished clean. hauxe (864) - Butzbach, Hesse, GERMANY - JUL 24, 2017
Pours auburn from the bottle. Tan, creamy head and sticky lacing. Nice. Aroma is apple, caramel, a bit floral. Taste is mildly bitter with strong roasted notes. Finishes the same but with mild notes of apple, green tea, nuts, and a light warmth. Body is medium. Nice! chinchill (5172) - South Carolina, USA - JUN 28, 2017
12 oz bottle served in a Belgian snifter.
Pours very dark for style: near opaque black-red-brown body topped by a thin beige colored head. Limited retention with spotty lacing. A bit of sediment on the bottom of the bottle.
Nutty, yeasty and bready aroma with hints of pine and citrus.
Mild bitterness with a somewhat nutty flavor; bold for style.
Smooth medium body with medium-light carbonation.

C-. Pours a clear brown color with khaki head. Not bad, but way too bitter for a brown

Poured from 12 oz bottle into pint glass.
A 1" cream colored head falls slowly with plenty of lacing. Color is deep coppery-brown. Aroma of pine, citrus, caramel and rich roasted malt. Flavors of caramel, molasses, toasted bread, ripe fruit, citrus. A very well balanced brew with the hops and malt both making their presence felt. Delicious. gopherfan99 (1996) - Minnesota, USA - NOV 6, 2016
Bottle; pours cloudy amber with a beige head; aroma of caramel and roasted malt with nuts and some floral notes; taste is more sweet than bitter with roasted malt, caramel, nuts, and hints of pine; finish is dry and slightly bitter with some hints of nuts Diablokev (181) - Lakewood, Colorado, USA - OCT 9, 2016
The aroma is awesome and filled the room. Nice plum and other fruit hints. The appearance is a dark brown with a thin cream head and nice lace. The taste is nice and smooth. Overall a nice beer. Marduk (8093) - Reval, ESTONIA - JUL 2, 2016
355ml bottle (thanks FatPhil). Hazy brown color. Huge size, thick tan head, stays. Husky, grainy, sourish, acidic, citrus in aroma. Husky, roast, grainy, spicy hops in taste. Spicy hops and sweet caramelly roast in aftertaste. Quite high carbonation. Feels bit old, but not a disaster. I kind of like it.
