This is like some godly lovechild between a scotch ale and a hefeweizen. I picked up a swing top bottle that was bottled in April of ’09 and stored respectfully ever since.
Pours a foggy dark amber orange, with a tasty head that dissipates rather quickly.
The smell explodes out of the bottle. It smells much boozier than it tastes - but the smell is very pleasant nonetheless. Lots of fruit, raisins, starch.
A whole lot going on here. It seems as though you get a different side of the beer from every sip.
A little too syrupy for my liking. It’s lack of drinkability comes from its slimy consistency.
Overall, this is a great beer that I’d like to try again.

On Tap at Brewforia, Meridian, ID.
Hazy light yellow/beige, looking rather like a Saison. Small fine white head and sturdy sheets of lacing. Soft fruity aroma of a little farmhouse and some pear and apple. Lost of soft fruit in the flavor as well. Pear and apple again.
Very strange. I totally thought I was poured the wrong beer. Pleasant but very light and different from a stronger darker beer like I expected.
Light and tasty though. dm9831 (1512) - Monee, Illinois, USA - OCT 23, 2010
hazy light brown color, almost no head, slight lace. nose of sweet malt, perhaps an airy trace of vanilla. some mustiness in the flavor, and then some of the bourbony, vanilla-y traits of the barrel. medium bodied, kind of a sweetish finish. not a very interesting beer. sampled at FoBAB ’09. doubleo (1432) - San Diego, California, USA - OCT 6, 2010
Pours dark amber with a thin offwhite head, specks of lace. Smells of sweet wood and bourbon with some fruity malts. Tastes sweet. With wood and booze and malty, fruity sweetness. Medium body, subdued carbonation. JAG55 (77) - O’Fallon, Missouri, USA - JUN 20, 2010
very good brew with 2 fingers of creamy head no lacing. Dark amber color with the wheat haze. Nose: A deep rich dark malt with banana aromas, caramel. phenols, oak, vanilla, and bourbon. Creamy velvety feel with rich full taste. Excellent finish.

Draft @ FoBAB 2009, Chicago, IL. Pours a brown color with a small off-white head. Has a wheaty malty caramel and vanilla bourbon aroma. Sweetish wheat malty caramel flavor with some toasted hints and hints of bourbon and vanilla. Has a slightly sweetish wheat malty caramel finish with hints of bourbon in the aftertaste. Tap @ Stone Oakquinox. Pours opaque brown with a small off white head. Bready notes with a good amount of wheat and light hops, faint bourbon and vanilla notes as well. JohnnyJ (5545) - San Diego, California, USA - APR 23, 2010
Draft at Stone Oakquinox 2010. Brown pour, thin off-white head. Caramel malt, toasted bread, fruit, light spice, and bourbon. BVery (10327) - Plymouth, Minnesota, USA - MAR 1, 2010
UPDATED: DEC 30, 2013 Tap. Definitely a holy s$!+ beer. Pours gold, aroma is not striking. The taste, however, is ridiculous. Vanilla, bourbon, semi-creamy, and simply awesome. hombrepalo (1971) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - NOV 9, 2009
FoBAB 2009. One of the top beers for sevral of my buddies. Seemed to be the easiest to drink. to me it was just average. Dark brown in color, minimal head. Aroma of bourbon, roasted malts, alcohol and dark fruits. taste is a bit watery, easy to drink with a soft finish. Idaho, not bad.
