As Doppels go, this kicks ass. Really quite the best of the style up there with Celebrator and Asam-Bock. Thick, rich, malty, chewy, like liquid brown sugar, the sweet parts of banana bread extracted into drinkable format. Bottle has "2009" label; I’m surprised that it is good after that long a time . . . ?
Goes well with: Kayo Dot, "___On Limpid Form"
Bottle from Tavour. Dark brown with light head. Big, lifted, fresh beer with coffee and dark chocolate aromas. Lovely aroma. It’s clean, intense and and balanced. Palate is rich balanced and very long. Dried fruit, cherry and dark cocoa.
This is magnificent. Probably best doppelbock I’ve tasted. No sluggish ferment. It’s clean and delightful. Massive aroma and flavor. kathouse (1942) - LAS VEGAS, Nevada, USA - JUL 6, 2017
Good balance of chocolate and caramel without being too sweet. Malty with a clean finish. A good beer. Quick3Beers (1515) - East Falmouth, Massachusetts, USA - JUL 4, 2017
Pours a near black from a bottle. Nice roasty caramel aroma, similar flavor with a nice Hallertau profile. Well-balanced sweetness. Pretty good beer. mjmoen (628) - - MAY 25, 2017
Pours a black color with khaki head. Full of flavor. Bread aromas and malty HourGlass13 (1101) - North Carolina, USA - FEB 24, 2017
Pours a deep caramel brown with a thin tan head that left partial lace. Pleasant aroma of malt, caramel, mild toast, and a touch of prune. The flavor is similar with big malt leading the way, caramel, and mild toast. There is definitely some dark fruit taste in here with fig and prune. Mild bitterness. Nice well rounded mouthfeel.

Sample at GABF 2016. Noted it as 11.0% alcohol. High creamy brown lasting head. Very dark red brown body. Roasted malt straw caramel slightly sour lemon like aroma. Mild and sweet wineous caramel cocoa flavor, little hops bitterness, low carbonation, long finish. Alcohol well hidden. pictoman (1254) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - AUG 14, 2016
Poured from 1 pint 9.4 fl oz bottle (February release). Dark brown with tan head. Light caramel malt, very mild chocolate, hint of mild nuts. stevoj (5880) - Boise, Idaho, USA - APR 8, 2016
Bottle from Albertsons. Seems light on the pour, lots of carbonation, frothy head with sticky lacing. Roast malts on the nose, and then gets deeper in taste. Mefium weight body adds to the experience, it all feels right. Not quite Celebrator, but not too far away either. euniceradio (563) - Worthington, Minnesota, USA - APR 6, 2016
On tap. Pours black with brown sticky head. Aroma of chocolate, caramel, toffee, roasted malts, and nut. Taste of same with deep malt bill. Mouthfeel is heavy oily. Drinks like a porter. drpimento (3815) - La Crosse, Wisconsin, USA - MAR 21, 2016
Yum, killer beer. Very Malty, smooth lots of toffee, hint of molasses, easy to drink. Love to try again.
