Appearance: Pours a hazed, deep reddish body with a thin, bubbly, whitish head.
Smell: Aroma smelling of gently toasted malts, a hint of caramel, some fruitiness, and floral, spicy Noble hops.
Taste: Light caramel over toasted grains with a single pinch of basic table sugar. Light apricot fruitiness. Floral, faintly spicy hops with a mellow bitterness. Small touch of alcohol ushers in the bittersweet finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation.
Drinkability: A bit of a gaudy presentation for what is a basic, though well-balanced and reasonably enjoyable red. Just glad I wasn’t on the wax-removing crew. Naven (1000) - Poway, California, USA - JAN 5, 2009
Retarded 1L wax dipped bottle. Why, WHY do we have to wax dip swing top bottles? This annoyance aside, this was a nice malty, hoppy beer. Pretty typical for the style, but tasty nonetheless. WeeHeavySD (3387) - Portland, Oregon, USA - JAN 4, 2009

smell is of roasted caramel, malt, some spice, barley, some sweet fruits.
taste is caramel, toasted walnuts, an organic funk, spice, hops, and some grain.
overall would have scored better if it was not for the organic funk that stays with you after you are done drinking. BeerandBlues2 (13210) - Escondido, California, USA - DEC 8, 2008

Pours out red with thick creamy head. Taste is sweet and spicey. Nice malt and hop balance. Subtle bitterness. Smooth finish. Not the typical aggressive west coast double red. Very tasty brew. Headbanger (3992) - Aurora, Illinois, USA - OCT 8, 2008

1 litre waxed swing top bottle which took fifteen minutes to open. Clear amber with a frothy light tan head, nice lacing. A mild aroma is spicy herbal hop. Medium body with a creamy smooth mouthfeel. Good flavor is grainy malt grist with light caramel. Has a subtle herbal hop sweetness to finish. Pretty nice beer here, though the bottle is a pain in the ass to open. Aroma is a roasted malt scent with some hop tones. Color is a bright amber with a slight haze, very good carbonation and a thick tight head. Taste is malty and crisp. Starting with a medium body it goes down smooth yet with a crisp feel. Finish comes in malty and slightly sweet then a little hop flavor with a hint of bitterness. After taste is clean with the bitterness hanging around a bit. This is a really good brew its easy drinking and well balanced.
