Thanks to my girlfriend for surprising me with this! What a huge bottle, way too much beer for my brother and I to take down. Poured a dirty mahogany color with a medium off-white head. Aroma and taste was slightly sugary, dark fruits, and caramel malts. Decent. alexsdad06 (10586) - West Chester, Ohio, USA - JAN 18, 2010
1 liter bottle. Pours a dark copper color with a sizable beige head. The aroma is sweet caramel/toffee malts with some background herbal and floral hops. The flavor is more big chewy caramel/toffee malts with some slight herbal and floral hops. Hints of tea come through at times as do some citrus notes. There are signs of oxidation, but this is still tasty. It would have been nice to have tried this when it was fresh.

(1l bottle) deep brown/black with very little head. Roast malt aroma. Flavor is roast malt, dark fruits. Not really an ESB. Ughsmash (7508) - Pewaukee, Wisconsin, USA - OCT 16, 2009
Giant wax-covered flip-top (stop doing that!).. dated 9/26/08. Poured medium garnet with a fluffy, sticky cap of dark tan head.. looked great! The aroma picked up redder fruits, biscuits, and brown sugar, accented by spicy earth and more residual brown sugars.. sweet overall and well-balanced. The flavor had raisins, other dark fruits, and bread at the core.. fruity vinegar tartness was laced throughout.. brown sugar and toffee were scattered around the edges.. finished warm and a bit sour, too heavy to be refreshing. Medium-bodied with only OK balance on the palate (not sure if the tartness was supposed to be there).. lots of residual graininess and warmth on the finish.. this was most certainly solid, but it showed age and was likely better a year ago. travita (5006) - Dallas, Texas, USA - OCT 13, 2009
