42nd Floor Bottleshare. Thanks to Wingman. Almost clear brown beer, tidy pale tan head. Palate is smooth and semi dry and has reasonable carbonation. Soft dark malts, some creamy sweetness and contrasting roast bitterness. Tangy artificial chocolate. Some chocolate - orange. Sweet floral finish with bubblegum esters. Bitter linger. Messy but not awful.
March 2017 - Can share at One Canada Square. Big thanks to Wingman for this. As ’Granite Brewery Darkside IPA’, 6.75%. Dark brown, almost opaque with a slight red hue, foamy light brown head leaves streaky lacing. Aroma is sugary – demerara and cola, also some coffee. Body is smooth with tingly carbonation. Taste is earthy, sugary, more cola, dry and spicy finish. Decent. (3.6) mR_fr0g (12128) - Hertfordshire, ENGLAND - MAR 14, 2017

Tap at the brewpub. Brown with a glare of mahogany. Head creamy white, dissipates slowly. Really sweet! Both nose and flavour. Dark malts and nougat, chocolate... nutty, hoppy, some red berry sour notes. Nice lingering bitter finish. Refreshing, thin carbonation. Body light to medium. Not like any other BIPA-s I’ve had. A peculiar one, but in itself quite nice. kevinsenn (2215) - Waterloo, Ontario, CANADA - SEP 12, 2015
On tap at Granite. Light toasty aroma without much hops. Licorice, dark fruit, slight c-hops, chocolate malt, and a bitter finish. Good, but below average for black ipa. DuffMan (10435) - the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, CANADA - NOV 7, 2014
Cask @ Crooked Star, while waiting for Bellwoods to open. Dark brown with amber highlights, low tan head that leaves early lace . Dark malts, lightly roasty, with sweet papaya and melon hop character, moderate bitterness. More like a hoppy brown, but nice. RhetoricalAns (939) - Red Deer, Alberta, CANADA - MAR 26, 2014
Draft. Dark brown colour with a thin off white head. Roast malt aroma, some caramel. Taste is similar, toasty malt, some slight sweetness, bitter finish. Ferris (15385) - Burnaby, British Columbia, CANADA - NOV 6, 2013
Draft - Light toasted malts and very light earthy hops. Dark maroon with a bubbly white head. Roasted malts and an almost astringent hop bitterness that imparts no good flavours. Finish brings out the hops but it’s a bit late. Not a fan.
