pintbypint (3977) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - FEB 14, 2006
Pint from Toronto brewpub. Opaque deep brown colour. Head was large, cappuccino coloured, quite clingy and sticky. Coffee aroma. Sweet dark malt start, coffee middle, long bitter roasted finish. Light mouthfeel and light carbonation.

probstblueribbon (3791) - Nepean, Ontario, CANADA - MAR 15, 2007
Sampled at Granite (Toronto). MR 14/07

App.: Deep cola, a little ruby, clear with a decent mocha head. Aroma: Strong French-roasted coffee, molasses, sweet chocolate, roasted malts and a touch of vanilla. Not bad! Palate: Medium body, kinda thick, almost flat and a touch powdery. Flav.: Lots of coffee, tartness, molasses, chocolate, dry with a decent bitter finish (feels like roasted bitter, not hops bitter) with a lingering woody, roasted malt aftertaste.

Fairly solid.

(Tap) clear, very dark brown colour with a small beige head; aroma of roast, hint of stewed fruit; watery palate; balanced flavour with a long light bitter finish

beerbuzzmontreal (3486) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - AUG 12, 2005
Clear reddish brown color with a thin light brown head. Weak aroma and flavor of roasted malt.

GregClow (3402) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - FEB 17, 2003
Deep black colour with ruby-brown highlights. Roasty aroma, and very nice flavour with strong coffee notes and a dry finish. But the body is thin and watery - I like more chewiness in my stouts.

rederic (3344) - montréal, Quebec, CANADA - DEC 2, 2010
On tap at the Toronto location, pitch black color, with a creamy tan-colored head, nice sweet mochaish, chocolatey, roasted malt nose with some vanilla, cappuccino, maple icecream accents, with a mild black coffee, molasses note in the aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a yeasty, fruity, roasted, black, chocolate malt character with a dark bitter chocolate, roasted coffee bean flavour upfront, and some flowery hop, leafy, piney undertones, leading towards a juicy, dry hopped, faint roasty bitterness finish.

Quevillon (3208) - Boisbriand, Quebec, CANADA - JUL 15, 2008

DougShoemaker (3146) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - SEP 23, 2002
Huge coffee aroma, some chocolate as well. Solid brown, no hint of red at all, lace forever! Medium cappuccino head. Coffee flavour, slight bitterness. Incredibly smooth, creamy, only a bit sweet. A Wonderful Stout!

Gorbalev (3000) - Ontario, CANADA - AUG 1, 2005
At the Toronto brewpub. Black pour, big frothy tan head. Nice roasted aroma. Taste is full of flavour - really big roasted notes at the start, followed by some subtle burnt hints and a lingering bitterness. Medium mouthfeel for the style. An excellent example of a dry stout and certainly one of the best Canadian efforts of this style I have had.

garthicus (2968) - Dublin, IRELAND - APR 2, 2008
On tap - Volo. Jet black, very proud fawn coloured head, beautiful. Aroma: Chocolate - smoke aroma, charcoal in there also, coffee too. Flavour: Smooth, smokey, chocolate and coffee, so smooth, so drinkable, wow, I would drink a dozen in a sitting. What a solid brew.
