Aroma chocolate jet black color with tan head and lacing. Taste is dry, but not as dry as a Guinness. Best at granite city, but even this was a middle of the road stout. Very low hops, chocolate and very low sweetness. Would have again though shrubber85 (11570) - Greenville, Indiana, USA - MAR 25, 2012
Tap. Chocolate caramel malt aroma. Black with small head. Sweet chocolate malt and moderately bitter grassy hops flavor. Good - on the hoppy side. jcwattsrugger (12517) - Florida and, New Jersey, USA - FEB 15, 2012
on nitro-pours black with a retaining light brown head. Aroma is rich dark malt-licorice/roasty/chocolate. Taste is sweet dark malt/oat-chocolate/roasty, hint of earthy hops. wilnatp (723) - Minnesota, USA - FEB 7, 2012
TAP. This beer is a bit more watery that Guinness. It tastes of oats and chocolate, and slightly of burnt wood. Smooth mouthfeel from the nitro. jmagnus87 (2912) - Rockford, Illinois, USA - DEC 29, 2011
Draft at GC Rockford. Pours dark black with a small bit of dark head. Aroma of coffee and chocolate. Taste if medium bitter. Lots of coffee and some dark bitter chocolate. Full bodied with a creamy texture. Soft carbonation and a long finish. Overall, pretty good. The only GC beer I’d bring home a growler of.

20 oz draught. Pours a jet black. Aroma of chocolate, coffee, peat, smoke. Flavor is caramel, cocoa, medium roast coffee, slight hop balance. Dry finish. seymour (2091) - Maplewood, Missouri, USA - OCT 10, 2011
Tasted on tap at brewpub, St Louis, Missouri, USA in standard pint glass. Opaque black color with thick, creamy beige head. Some head retention, little lace. True-to-style aromas and flavors. Balanced hops bitterness. Dark and thick. Fruity ale fermentation. Lingering bittersweet aftertaste. Tasty but unmemorable. BVery (11209) - Plymouth, Minnesota, USA - SEP 29, 2011
UPDATED: DEC 29, 2013 Tap. Nice dark brown/black pour with a nice foamy cream head. Really nice chocolate and coffee aroma. Palate is impossibly thin - kills this beer. Taste is watery with similar elements as aroma. tronraner (2459) - Walland, Tennessee, USA - SEP 18, 2011
Draught at Cedar Rapids. Pours brown-black with almost no head (what head I can stir up is beige). The aroma is rich mocha, some vanilla, wood, and a bit of a boggy note. The flavor is bitter chocolate with forward roastiness. More earthy hop bitterness than I expected. Caramel and pine in the finish. dwaggs2 (1297) - Jefferson City, Missouri, USA - AUG 26, 2011
Tap at granite city in Kansas City, MO. Poured a darker brown color with a nice tan head. Aroma was coffee, roasted malts and chocolate. Very dry finish. Thiin and watery body. Flavor was much of the same. Roasted malts, coffee and nuts. Could have been a lot beer. Below average.
