On tap in cedar rapids. Pours a thick black, white head. Light aroma for a stout. A lot of roastiness in the flavor, but it’s pretty thin for a stout--almost watery. Dry finish. Meh...

Out of the sampler I had, this was one of the better beers. Pours black with a thick tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate. Flavor is the same with a little bit of a nutty flavor as well. Not bad, but nothing amazing.

kramer (6577) - Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 25, 2009
On tap, Maumee OH location. Pours a dark brown, almost black., body with a small creamy dark brown nitro head that left some thick lacing. Roasty and dry with a bit of coffee on the nose. The flavor is thin and a little too astringent with a heavy malt bitterness. More like a cold cup of day old coffee than a beer. The mouth feel is thin and nitrod with a fairly watery finish. Not too much positive to say about this guy, it looked and smelled pretty decent, but it went downhill from there.

Pours a beautiful deep black with a good two inches of thick tan head. Excellent count-the-number-of-sips lacing. Sadly, Ive now come to the point where I stop being impressed. Very mild roasted grain in the aroma. A little bit of coffee in the flavor, but not much. Exceptionally mild taste, it isnt even going to frighten away the beer novice. Thin body, not much character. This one proves that dark beers arent always bold, potent, or bitter.

St. Louis Park location. Chocolate, cocoa and dry malt on the nose. Pours black with a thick khaki head with excellent retention. Flavor reminded me of Guinness Draught. Mostly dry with a hint of malty sweetness. Medium boded and creamy. Lacked depth and complexity.

Grabbed a growler from Granite City in Rockford, IL(very expensive $15 plus $8 to fill) and would not recommend their growlers since they seem to lack the ability to keep the beer carbonated well. Poured from the growler black. Aroma is toasted malts and strong of coffee. Flavor is a good bitterness with great coffee flavor and has a faint caramel end note. Palate is a bit weak and lacks any depth in density of the brew.
