TAP. This beer is a bit more watery that Guinness. It tastes of oats and chocolate, and slightly of burnt wood. Smooth mouthfeel from the nitro. phaleslu (10669) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - JUL 20, 2012
Draft in a sampler at Granite City-Creve Coeur. Pours a very attractive, deep, opaque brown with a cascading creamy tan head that settles into a nice lasting cap. The aroma is roasty, with notes of chocolate, coffee, and some sugars. The flavor has dark chocolate, coffee, toasted sugar, and some bitter earthiness. The body seems initially full but quits quickly, if that makes sense. Bitter and gritty without having much substance. Moderate carbonation. Could be better. blipp (9691) - La Mesa, California, USA - JUN 24, 2015
Draft. Pours deep brown with a beige head. Mild roasted malts, some generic malty sweetness, faint coffee, and a muted and mild roasted malty finish. Pretty bland throughout, but no real off flavors. jrodooo5 (1718) - DOVER, Delaware, USA - JUL 28, 2015
Ehh, mediocre stout at best! Beautiful dark pour w/ a retaining mocha head that leaves little lacing. The aroma is quite light & only slightly roasty. The taste is watery, slight roast, & just too thin! Come on man! drjoeng (1380) - SINGAPORE - APR 29, 2017
5.5%ABV. Oatmeal stout.
Tapped out black. 40°SRM.
Nose has dark fruit, ume, charcoal. Coffee. Good "stout" aromas.
Mouthfeel is watery and light beery. Palate has light charcoal, roasted malt. No bitterness.

I was told this is like a Guinness stout by the barmaid. Perhaps a watery version. Slightly smokey and lightly sprinkled with chocolate. Average at best. uglyblond1 (177) - Nebraska, USA - NOV 13, 2006
A roasty dry lighter bodied stout. Not really bitter but a dominant roast character. Very light on the hops. Quite smooth finish. No real offensive notes. IPAndy (120) - minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - FEB 4, 2007
I had never heard of this place, but happened to stop in. Tried this stout and was impressed by the chocolate and nuttiness in the aroma and flavor. The next logical step for someone who likes Guiness but hasn’t really tried a lot of micros. DWestrick (818) - Ft Wayne, Indiana, USA - FEB 8, 2008
UPDATED: FEB 16, 2008 Nice stout...had at Granite City in Fort Wayne on tap. dark color and tan head...i enjoyed drinking this beer...will have again. Dogbrick (13775) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - FEB 19, 2008
Sample from a growler at the Super Terrific Stout Tasting on Feb 16th. Pours nearly black with a thin light brown head that disappears quickly. Minimal lacing is evident. Mild roasted coffee and malt in the nose. Medium, slick body with roasted coffee, malt and chocolate flavors. The finish is fairly thin for a Stout and has a coffee aftertaste plus a hint of hops. Below average overall.
