swigswthwolves (74) - Michigan City, Indiana, USA - DEC 1, 2012
Poured from a pitcher into a cold pint glass. Smells slightly malty but overall a very subdued aroma. Great dark brown color with a soft gentle tan head. Taste is of malts and nuts with a forgettable finish. Overall good plan but disappointing execution.

drjoeng (1380) - SINGAPORE - APR 29, 2017
5.2%ABV. Altbier. Tapped out clear dark crimson-brown. Mouthfeel is beery and light. Palate is light sour, hint fruity, carbonated and wheat toast. Hint of nutty flavor. Hops are noble. Finish is light and beery.

Airlifter (134) - Shawnee, Kansas, USA - FEB 1, 2017
A dull and lifeless bock...perhaps because the flavor was lost when they poured it in that frozen glass. Why? The best thing Granite City serves, but that isn’t saying much.

bytemesis (9191) - Sunnyvale, California, USA - DEC 28, 2016
Draft, as the Bennie. Heller Bock?? Pours deep reddish hickory, minimal head or lacing. Aroma is light, malty, caramel, not much going on really. Flavor is nondescript, watery. Light body, no carbonation. Ugh

Homer321 (5190) - Melboring, Florida, USA - JUL 30, 2016
Draft at source. Nose of light toffee and bread crust but both very faint. Deep red pour, crystal clear. Off white head laces well. Breast malt presence with some honey. Moderate hop peppery flavors mid palate through the finish. Solid but doesn’t have a lot of complexity.

dlovell2 (2283) - Columbia, Maryland, USA - JUN 6, 2016
On tap at brewery. Pours brown amber color. Ariana is smoky roasted malt. Flavor is roasted malt, biscuit notes and slight fruit, roasty finish. Most enjoyable beer of the night.

GenDV138 (7698) - Falls Church, Virginia, USA - FEB 20, 2016
4 oz pour on draft at Granite City National Harbor. Listed as The Bennie. Clear amber with off-white head. Aromas of boscuit, malt, caramel, dark fruit. Tastes of malt, caramel, toffee, biscuit, dark fruit. Light body with a dry finish. Fairly high carbonation.

drdisque (882) - Illinois, USA - JAN 21, 2016
On tap at Troy, MI brewpub. Pours dark but clear brown, almost black. Flavor is nutty and very caramelized. Not a lot of depth and thin mouthfeel. OK, but not great.

ajnepple (7052) - Denver, Colorado, USA - DEC 13, 2015
On tap at the Schaumburg location. Clear, deep amber appearance with a light tan head. Nutty malts, toffee, light caramel and a hint of earth. Mild to moderate sweetness with a light hop bitterness. OK.

freekyp (2408) - Thomasville, North Carolina, USA - DEC 13, 2015
A very earthy version of a bock with some powdery chocolate character and very littel maltiness. This one came across like an average brown ale excepting the copper penny noble twang finish.

Pailhead (6543) - Rochester Hills, Michigan, USA - NOV 13, 2015
On tap: The aroma is lightly nutty, grain, and a hint of chocolate. It’s a transparent orangish-brown with a small beige head that fades to a thick film outlined by a slightly thicker ring. The flavor starts with a quick dose of light-moderate caramel and light chocolate. The finish has a light nuttiness. It’s medium bodied with soft carbonation and mouthfeel.
