650 ml bottle. Pours a very dark brown with light head. Aromas of roasted malt and light pine. Flavors of coffee, roast malts, light chocolate, and light pine. Nice enough.
Nice medium bodied beer. Went down well. Had a nice aftertaste. worth trying again! stantheman (1098) - British Columbia, CANADA - AUG 9, 2013
On tap at Malone’s Urban Drinkery in downtown Vancouver. Wow! The style rating is really low. Not sure what that means, but we shall see.

Very dark, not quite black in color, with moderate tan head. Roasted malts on the nose. Very prominent malts on the tongue, but way under hopped for my taste.
This is a decent dark IPA with lots of balanced barley and a good finish - but like many of GI’s beers it’s rather simple. Dry hoppiness at the end helps to highlight the barley. Not overkill and a good gateway into the style. vadie (1257) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - MAY 3, 2013
650mL bottle to tulip
Roasted malts, coffee, light hops, and straw. The appearance is a deep opaque brown with a thin tan ring of a head. The taste is malty up front that disappears into an lingering astringent coffee like bitterness. The mouthfeel is medium bodied and slick with soft carbonation and astringent finish. Not very balanced and a bit of a miss for me. bigaddie (75) - - SEP 16, 2012
Dark and smooth appearance, pours with a small head that stays. Aroma is a medley of sweet citrusy hops and heavy malt.
Smooth palate with a bitter, toasty hops taste in front and bitter hops at end. Not very well balanced - a little less malt and more hops.

3 - 4oz samples at VCBW 2012 in Vancouver poured almost black in color with a generous light beige head that leaves some decent lacing. Aroma is roasted grains, chocolate and hints of citrus and coffee. Taste is roasted grain and citrus bitterness atop a chocolatey malty background. Medium body and moderate carbonation leave a nice tingle on the palate. A decent brew for the style and quite tasty, but there are better ones to sample. Bottle. Pours a dark brown with a small off white head. Aroma of chocolate, lightly roasted coffee and some metallic qualities. Flavour is no more exciting, weak, light citrus. Bland. Powertrip (1000) - Calgary, Alberta, CANADA - JUL 31, 2012
Single bottle purchased from Willow Park Liqour Store in Calgary, AB On 07/04/2012. Colour: Extremely dark brown with low creamy white head. Nose: Lots of vegetation from the hops and a touch of egg. Faint caramel. Burnt rice. Taste: Light sweet, medium bitter, medium-light sour. The roasting of the ingredients is apparent and dominant but the character is shallow. Just not much depth.
