Smelled pretty malty when I first opened it. Poured dark pink. Originally malty with a hint of raspberry. As it aired out the raspberry became a lot more evident, should probably let this one sit in the glass a good five minutes before drinking. It’s not overly complex and just has a hint of sour raspberry, but I liked it more than something like Fruli which is far too sweet. I got this in a Costco pack and there was only a single bottle inside but I’d pick up a six pack for a hot summer day. You have to have it really cold though outside in the heat.

Tap @Granville Island Brewering Taproom, Vancouver.
Small off-white head, light amber/ruby colour, clear.
Aroma: raspberry, berries, strange sweet artificial syrup.
Lightly sour with very dry aftertaste. Light body, lively.
Very artificial, never again.

From a 355ml can, pours a pretty big foamy bubbly pinkish head, good retention. Has a ruby coloured appearance. Moderate carbonation. Aromas of berries and sweet malt. Flavours are mostly fruity, subtle notes of raspberries, not to strong though. Also some sweet malt hints. Somewhat of a light tarty finish. Drying and fizzy mouthfeel. It’s not bad, fairly refreshing.

Bierdimpfe (640) - Quebec, CANADA - OCT 22, 2016
Clear dark gold, amber hue, with dense activity. Slightly foamy white 2 finger head, lasting around 5 minutes, with faint lacing. Flavors of raspberries, cranberries, caramel, sweet grains, corn, very faint herbal spices. Thick sweetness, minimal bitter hops. Light oily body with soft prickly carbonation. Light finish, lingering sweet grains and fruits, with very soft grassy hops. A little flat and thick on the tongue, with average freshness. Faint flavors, not bad but overly accessible, and a little unbalanced. Overall below average quality craft.

Pours a really clear amber with an quickly fading white head that settles into a white rim that leaves nice lacing. Nose is that of an Ocktoberfest/Marzen almost with some toasted cereals, corn, bread and some very vague raspberries in the back. Taste is moderately sweet (a little more than that, in fact) and offers the same malty flavors with a lightly acidic edge from the "raspberries" I guess. Not crisp at all and a little syrupy even. Which is weird, because body is quite light. Moderate carbonation. Not enough fruits and just weak overall, classic macro swill. They usually put a lot of fake extracts in their fruit flavored beers, though, not sure what happened here?

Draft. Pink beer with a cream head. Light raspberry aroma. Raspberry and light malt flavor. Medium bodied. Raspberry and light malt lingers.

Watery red colour. Watery fruity taste. This is basically a glass of crystal clear with booze.

PanMarek (464) - Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 18, 2016
Clear reddish gold pour with thin foam and active carbonation. Smooth, sweet mouthfeel. Mild tartness at the end. Raspberry flavor dominates but touches of yeast come through. Overall effect is a little disappointing. The raspberry flavor seemed mannered, almost artificial.

UXO (1922) - CANADA - JUN 12, 2016
Appearance: hazy red-tinged deep gold with a short-lived white head, patchy lacing. (3/5) Aroma: raspberry, grassy, pale crackery malt. (5/10) Taste: moderate sweet, mild bitter, mild tart. (4/10) Light body, moderate carbonation, dry slightly astringent finish. (3/5)

This is one of those very rare beers that I think could actually stand to be a bit sweeter. There’s some (somewhat fake-smelling) raspberry there, but it’s so very dry and astringent that it’s tasting more like berry seeds than flesh, or maybe watermelon peel. I’m not sure more sweetness would have made it taste any less artificial, but it might be a little more palatable. (10/20)
