3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Like all of Granville’s beers it’s heavy on grain and malt. I can’t say I taste any hops in this. Its color is actually a little dark for a Hefeweizen and it’s a bit heavier than you’d expect for the category as well. That said I thought it was a pleasant surprise. It tastes more like a light ale with a touch of citrus and I actually came away quite happy with the taste. So it’s not really true to the category but what they do with it seems pretty good and I’ll be picking up some more in the future.
Tap @Granville Island Brewering Taproom, Vancouver.
Small white head, yellow colour, hazy. Aroma: clover and banana. Lightly sour taste with dry/tonic aftertaste. Light body, average carbonation, astringent finish. adamnowek (2709) - Brussels, BELGIUM - MAR 13, 2017
Dark straw colour. Cloudy appearance. Aroma is wheat and cloves. Taste is really quite lemony with banana bread. Listigovers (1171) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - SEP 15, 2016
Hazy beer, typical hefe w/ spice and clove. Fairly herbal, wheaty, quite a lot of flavour, citrus, well done by standard hefe. pushkinwow (2789) - Ottawa, CANADA - NOV 7, 2015
On tap. Cloudy dark straw with a creamy off wite head. Somewhat sweet wheat, orange, banana, cloves, moderate carbonation, mild body, inoffensive, easy to drink but unremarkable. AleRider78 (1114) - Winchester, Ontario, CANADA - AUG 31, 2015
Thanks to Chopz for the tradesies! Poured a small layer of fizzy head. Not really much lacing. Aromas of bananas, mild spices, hints of vanilla. Pretty damn smooth mouthfeel. Also getting the banana in the flavour, as well as wheats, and some tropical type fruits. Sweetness on the palate. Pretty good easy drinking hefe.

Not a balanced beer. Too thin on the finish. It's drinkable, nothing outstanding. It's no Schneider Weiss hefe.

Meh. Decent Hefeweizen flavours but not well balanced. Hazy pour, big blast of banana flavours and some spices. Needs a good dose of subtlety. climberbob (458) - Virginia, USA - FEB 3, 2015
Bottle. Hazy golden. Grassy yeasty aroma. Strong banana and clove notes. Malty yeasty. Not much hops. Ok

nother product by Granville Island which was part of their Summer Mingler 12-pack I got at my grocery store.
341ml bottle served in a weizen glass at 4 degrees:
The pours is orange/golden and slightly hazy. Microcarbs are spotted through the glass and you only get a thin white head which dissipates quickly, not even leaving a trace.
The nose is mostly grainy and sweet with cloves melon and banana coming through. You don’t get many hoppy or yeasty features except a faint grassy element way in the back.
On the tongue, you get a mix of caramel, banana and melon all wrapped in a thin grassy blanket. The brew shows a moderate density and finishes very abruptly. A timid bitterness tickles the back of the palate some time after your sip.
Overall I liked this beer. I’m not well educated when it comes to Hefeweizen brews, but I think it would pair up nicely with hearty brunch or on its own on a hot summer day. Light, sweet and easy going brew. Cheers! TaktikMTL (7798) - Montréal, Quebec, CANADA - NOV 25, 2014
