Editors Note: This entry was brewed in 2013 at Hill Farmstead under the Grassroots label.
Please do NOT confuse it with the beer brewed at Amager Bryghus which was first unveiled at Mikkellers The Copenhagen Beer Celebration in May 2014.

This double IPA is a collaborative beer brewed by Shaun E. Hill of Hill Farmstead Brewery with Jacob Storm and Morten Lundsbak of Amager Bryghus (Denmark) at Hill Farmstead Brewery in Greensboro Bend, VT in June 2013.
The name is inspired by one of Danish writer Hans Christian Andersens travelogues; the beer represents a vivid but fleeting memory of a productive and wonderful visit by our Danish friends to Vermonts Northeast Kingdom. 8% abv

On tap at Prohibition Pig. \Clear orange. Nice fluffy head. A bit of lacing and nice surface foam. Smells of some orange, skips the grapefruit, and goes right to pine. A touch musty and some malt sweetness. Sweet malt right up front in the taste, but orange hops take hold. Very juicy. Pine hops take over throughout as the sugars drop off. Moderate bitterness and some grass. The finish reveals a bit of a toasty malt backbone. Medium bodied. Has the sweetness of a DIPA without just a bit less body. Interesting hop profile. Very nice.

Growler... Clear yellow pour with a small, fizzy, white head. The heavily dry-hopped nose reeks of armpit odor and musk - as overly dry-hopped beers often do, regardless of the hop varietal used - intermingled with a much more pleasant grapefruit rind component. Full-bodied with stinging carbonation. The flavor offers a nice level of citrus bitterness. Pale malt sweetness is muted but also nice. Finishes bitter and a touch astringent. Growler courtesy of ctipping!

Back rate from notes. Fresh growler from the brewery. This is a nice stray from the normal GR/HF IPA which usually features heavy citrus and dank dryness. This beer is heavy herbal/grassy hops that are smooth and bitter on the back end. Unique and really nice.

On tap at Parker. Pours a hazed golden orange with a thick white head. A little sweeter than other HF IIPAs, citrus and pineapple with a healthy herbal and minty (?) presence. Pine and grass bitter finish. Unique

Pour is a transparent golden amber with a bubbly white head. Nose is a more muted version of S&S 5. Tropical fruits and herbal grassy notes with notes of stale grain. Taste is a bit more bright, citrus and light pine. The grain and malt presence are cleaner and more balanced. Bitterness is low but present. Carbonation is stronger, body is light and soft.

In short: A fruity and lemongrassy blonde IPA that is refreshing despite its size.
How: Tap at the brewery and then a growler consumed a few hours later.
The look: Cloudy blonde body topped by a persistent small white head.
In long: The highly aromatic hoppy nose is pale citrus fruits, lemongrass and pine notes. In mouth the beer has some of the signature HF mouthfeel although maybe a little less cushiony than usual. Taste has lots of crispy crackery malts with a little more sugars sensation than usual for an HF IPA. Sweet bananas swimming in grapefruit juice. Plenty of lemongrass. Some piney notes. To me this tasted a bit like a fruitier version of their Grassroots Legitimacy. Very enjoyable although below average compared to the rest of the impressive HF/Grassroots hoppy beers lineup. Almost 6000 ratings and I still dont know how long Im supposed to applaud myself after each rating I enter, am I over-doing it at 5 minutes?

Growler from Hill Farmstead, drank in Canaan, NH. Pours clear gold with a large, frothy white head. Juicy pine in the nose, some melon, light pee, grapefruit. Medium sweet flavor, lightly bready, with more melon, honey, grapefruit. Medium to full in body with fine to average carbonation. Good and resinous to finish with more pine, melon, piss, grapefruit. Rich. Lightly warming. Some grassy bitterness in the aftertaste. Great stuff.

Shared at Chris pad. Clear yellow pour with a white head. Florally hop aromas. The taste follows suit. Good balance with enough malt to keep it honest. Good mouthfeel and body.
