(last serving from the keg at Mikkeller & Friends) I don’t think I ever tried this style before so I’m not exactly sure what to expect but here goes: The lactobacillus is definitely present in the aroma. It’s tart in a juicy, cidery and stringent fashion. Pours a cloudy straw yellow with no head or regeneration. Oily texture, flat and a dry, tart finish. Flavour largely follows the nose being predominantly tart but in quite a drinkable way. Tart but not mouthpuckeringly so. I appreciate the historical aspects of this style but for the taste I think I’d prefer apple cider.

pentaz (1264) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - MAR 28, 2013
Draught. Pours unclear pale yellow with virtually no head. Aroma is apple, cider, wheat, acidic lemon and lactic. Taste is light+ sweet and medium tart. Body is light+, texture is thin, carbonation is soft. Finishes tart and quite dry. Refreshing and quite tart.

Hazy yellow golden colour, no head. Sour Lambic aroma. Fizzy. Soda sweetness but mostly sourness in flavour. Sprite and Lambic put together. Very nice for a 3% brew.

Draught. Whitte yellow and cloudy. Intense lactic sourness. Refreshing and balanced. Wheaty flavours. Lemon juice. Decent berliner weisse.

2.6
mcberko (18583) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - SEP 13, 2012
Half-pint at The Farmhouse Tap & Grill, pours a cloudy lemony yellow with almost no head – just a few bubbles. Nose is quite lemony tart, with a tad of sweetness. Flavour is very tart, even for a Berliner, with loads of lemony tang, cut down by noticeable sugar content that doesn’t so much affect the flavour, but rather the mouthfeel – leaves a sugary residue on the teeth, making this low drinkability. Would prefer this to be dryer. Decent effort.

3.5
HogTownHarry (7064) - Toronto (Harbourfront), Ontario, CANADA - SEP 8, 2012
August 19, 2012 - draught at King William IV Witterfest. Looks like pale grapefruit juice - murky, pale yellow, not much head. Smells delicately sour ... mild grain, a little dry grass - mostly funky lemon. Taste follows - like sour lemonade with wheat germ, but I like it, love it, really. Big, big body on it, almost like syrup, quite acidic - quite lively and stinging on the palate, finishes very dry indeed - bitter and lemony, wheat on the top of the palate. Solid.
