during "Birre sotto l’albero 2011". Deep black color with a frothy tan head. Aroma of berries, cocoa. Full bodied beer with flat carbonation. It’s a perfect mix of sweetness and bitterness. Starts sweet and ends a bit dry and bitter. If you find it, you must drink it!
Bottle from Domus Birrae, Roma; best present I ever had. Full marks. Aromas of chocolate, vanilla, hints of smoke and liquorice. Taste is sweet and bitter, with very long length. Palate is syrupy, full bodied. Black, with a frothy head. dlinn (141) - Denver, Colorado, USA - JUL 12, 2012
Wonderful aroma and taste. Sweet with coconut/vanilla flavors from the barrel aging. Highly recommended. SrSilliGose (3331) - pouring bus, New Brunswick, CANADA - AUG 18, 2012

UPDATED: JAN 13, 2012 Bottle, thanks Ryan for sharing. Dark brown with small tan head. Nose is strong coffee, roast, light anise, light cocoa. Flavor is extra roasty, char, light cocoa, coffee. Medium bodied. ******************Glad I am getting to try multiple bottles of these Grassroots beers. Thanks Ryan. This is a remarkably different beer when it is not served out of an icy cold cooler and drank outside in cold temperatures on new years eve. both very enjoyable experiences but letting this beer warm up JUST A BIT makes a HUGE difference in the quality of flavor and aroma. I guess it seems obvious for the average beer geek but damn am i more impressed. Unassuming dark fruit comes through much more, a very nice dark chocolate mousse, coffee, light bourbon that melds perfectly. A very well done ba imperial stout. Nice job Ry.

Good job frumpyhumpty. Very nice barrel aging here. Vampires are fags. Yep. Queers! Reynolds314 (3441) - Connecticut, USA - JAN 13, 2012
Fantastic stuff. Aroma of bourbon, vanilla, butterscotch, coffee. Palate is a bit thin and watery but the taste is layered complex and really great. Bourbon is an accent flavor and does not overpower the roasty richness of the base beer. wow. sunevdj (4087) - Copenhagen OE, DENMARK - FEB 28, 2012
UPDATED: FEB 19, 2017 Copenhagen Beer Festival 2011. Pours black with a small beige head. Very sweet with a light bitterness. Mellow aromas of toffee, chocolate and coco nut. Light alcohol notes. Full bodied with a slightly oily texture. Soft carbonation. Dry finish. chrisv10 (17422) - DENMARK - MAR 13, 2012
