Papsoe (25063) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - AUG 24, 2005
(On tap) Very dark and almost opaque, with a very smal, very fine head. No less than six malts one of which is smoked, which you barely sense. In spite of all the malt this appears less sweet than the brewery’s Rød Mosebryg. The same First Gold hops are used, but in this brew the hops offer more resistance to the sweet malts and they leave a solid dose of bitterness. Again a splendid and harmonious brew from Grauballe. 220505

UPDATED: SEP 1, 2009 Tap at Carlsens Kvarter Odense. Wow, I haven’t had this in a long time, re-rate necessary. Dark brown with a lively and lasting, off-white head. Lemon/fruity hop aroma, and a mostly sweet flavour. Fruity aroma with caramel malt and notes of wood and smoke. Malty rich flavour with a hint of smoke. Better craftsmanship than in my memory. Which it should be.
