The aroma is buttery caramel malts with a little fruit and hops.
The flavor is sweet malts with some butter and salt and a boozy hop finish. The mouthfeel is medium bodied.
Overall, not very good. Buttery with some saltiness and harsh alcohol.
Taster at Brewers Rendezvous. Pours a medium white head over a clear amber (SRM 12) body......nose is pine, citrus peel, toffee/caramel.....taste is sweet toffee/caramel, licorice, leading to a lingering heavy pine, citrus peel bitter finish....mouth feel medium, sticky, alcohol warmth present, carbonation low. This is unbalanced towards a heavy sweet middle and then too heavy and simple finish. Better attenuation, and more dry hopping would improve this beer. On tap at the inaugural Front Range Ralley in Loveland, CO and a growler at home. Aroma is a little lacking, but that could be the venues. The citrus hop flavors in the initial aftertaste mix with the chewy carmel malts and are then overtaken by the unrelenting bitterness. A little too fruity?bubblegum?phenolic? alcohol note. At Avery Strong Ale Fest 2013--clear bronze orange with a thin cap head. Hoppy nose with lots of leafy and floral hops mixing with malty caramel. Flavor was hoppy as well but more emphasis on bitterness, with a kinda acidic pine and grapefruit flavor dominating the palate, alongside a sickly (almost bile-like) pale malt backbone.

Pour on tap at Avery IPA fest, hazy yellow pour with white head, aroma brought cleaning fluid, solvent, some lemony notes, biscuit, spice notes, some slight biscuit as well, something off here. Tap @ the Inaugural Boulder IPA Fest. Pours a clear, dark orange appearance with a cream colored head. Orange, grapefruity, clean solution, lemon solvent aroma. On tap at Gravity poured a clear reddish amber with a small lingering amber head. Aromas of biscuit, earthiness, citrus and light pine. Palate was light bodied and smooth. Flavors of carmel, earthiness and fruittiness with a smooth lingering fruity finish.
