A: The pour is a very dark brown, almost black, with a small tan head.
S: Smells...bad. Like prunes and roast. Slight acidity to the nose with some acrid roast and coffee notes. There is some good sweetness of toffee and caramel, however.
T: What a terrible flavor. Watery and vegetal with an astringency to it and a weak coffee flavor in the background. Not any chocolate to speak of, almost no sweetness is present either.
M: Thin and watery on the tongue with a moderate level of carbonation.

Bottle poured a clear dark brown with a lastring tan head. Aromas of dark chocolate, roasted malt, light vanilla and light coffee. Palate was light bodied and smooth. As 56 Oatmeal Stout. A clear brown stout with a thin mocha head. In aroma, a sweetish slightly off chocolate, with light cheesey notes. In mouth, a light smooth chocolate with some light acidic points, a tad unpleasant. On tap at Istmus Beer and Cheese Fest, Jan 21 2012.

12 ounce bottle from Woodman’s Madison West. Pours a very dark brown color with a large fizzy brown head. Fair head retention. Aroma of chocolate, oats, faint roast and a bit of a tart note. 12oz bottle. Poured a dark brown color with a smaller sized off white head. Aromas of chocolate, roasted malts and coffee. Tastes of coffee, lactic, and roasted malts. mellow smooth. Chocolate nutty mocha carmel syrup,roast barley and sweet oats. Nice mahogony deep brown and toasted head that stays around. Long satisfying finish. Thanks pigfoot for sample.
