UPDATED: SEP 15, 2013 Tasted on tap at Great Dane’s Downtown location. A medium amber with a thin head. A bitter, sour finish. Not my thing at all.

Had it tap at the Great Dane downtown location in Madison. Poured a beautiful clear amber hue with a light head and uneven lacing. Slight hop aroma and taste with a watery basement aftertaste. kramer (6682) - Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 20, 2009
On tap, Great Dane, downtown. Pours a dark amber to copper body with a small off-white head. Slightly fruity and toasty malt with just a touch of hops, a little husky note. The flavor is a bit thin with just a light hopping, toasty, some slightly grainy malt and a lingering husky finish. Watery texture, very fizzy, with a lingering coarseness I don’t care for. Pretty meh. phishpond417 (2088) - Madison, Wisconsin, USA - NOV 21, 2008
Pours a dark copper colour with a medium sized almond coloured head. Aroma is very rich, slightly nutty with hints of coffee grounds and earth. Taste is full, creamy with faint notes of pepper, wood and berries. troyc (2869) - Illinois, USA - NOV 16, 2008
(Tap) Pours a clear brown color with a very thin white head and good lacing. Dry malty aroma of toffee and biscuits. Sweet malts also in the taste, with a minimal amount of hops to impart a dry finish. A well made altbier that could have been made a little better with a more robust body.

Sampled on draught at the downtown Madison, Wisconsin brewpub. Pours a semi-clear dark brown brew with a thin off-white head that slowly dissipates to a thin white ring and spotty lacing. Aroma of roasted caramel malt, a touch of smoked wood, floral hops and a touch of toffee. Taste is medium bodied, very light carbonated with flavors of old cellar caramel malt, floral hops and a touch of toffee. Finish is semi-dry with a lingering dry malt aftertaste. badgerben (5187) - Blaine, Minnesota, USA - SEP 23, 2005
Dark brown color with a thin head. Dusty aroma, like a dry and harvested farm field. Malty base with a bacon and smoke tinge towards the end. Bone dry finish.
