3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
On tap at the brewpub: Kind of lacking any real flavor except for a bitter flavor. I was expecting a thick feeling liquidl, what I recieved was a thin watery feel. Overall the brew pub is a nice visit in downtown Madison, but don’t expect a great beer.
Taste: bittersweet dark chocolate, malt roasted coffee, dry almost smoked finish. Earthy malt grain and cocoa nose. Black/Brown with some reddish hue, mostly opaque, with a cream nitro head and refine ring of lattice. Medium body. Delicious silky stout that pair well with my dinner. edgallow (4629) - nashville, Tennessee, USA - JUL 9, 2017
Draft pours black with a tan head. Aroma of coffee, grains and a hint of cocoa. Taste is coffee and grains. thedm (6320) - Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA - JUL 6, 2015
This draft brew on nitro tap from the brewery bottle shop poured a small sized head of foamy creamy tan colored bubbles that were very long lasting and left behind an opaque dark ruby red brown colored body with no visible carbonation and an excellent creamy thick lacing. The mild aroma was malty. The semi-flat smooth mouth feel was weakly tingly at the start and at the finish with a lingering dark malt aftertaste. The ok flavor contained notes of roasted malt and malt. Not one that I would likely drink again. Dogbrick (14316) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - AUG 22, 2014
Sample at the downtown brewpub. Brownish-black color with a medium tan head that dissipates steadily to a film. Small patches of lacing on the glass. Aroma of roast malt, dark chocolate and coffee. Light to medium body with a roasty coffee and malt character, with some chocolate in the back. The finish is sweet with a short roasted malt aftertaste. Decent overall. Taste on tap at the brewpub. Dark brown red color, mostly clear. Thin khaki head. Kind of bubbly. Leaves good thicker lace. Cocoa nib, some light coffee, nutty brown ale type flavors, light caramel malt. Moderate sweet taste, light bitter. Medium plus body. Smooth, kind of chewy texture, lighter carbonation. Decent slightly watery dry irish stout. Texture is a little off, but decent kind of brown ale flavor to this.

A nice dark dry stout. Roasty, chocolatey, and toasty on the palate. Very smooth for a stout with that much roasted character. Pretty solid every day drinking stout. DedicatedToFun (4003) - Santa Monica, California, USA - NOV 14, 2013

Black pour with off white head at their Madison brewery. Dull taste after having the porter. Malta and dryness. Ok coffee flavor. ChiGuy68 (626) - Illinois, USA - JUL 6, 2013
UPDATED: SEP 15, 2013 Tasted on tap at Great Dane’s Downtown location. Opaque dark brow with a frothy head and full lacing. Big stout aroma that does not deliver much taste. Bland and watery. Two words I have never used to describe a stout.
