UPDATED: APR 30, 2006 Rerate from a growler thanks to malachi. Nice aroma with lots of grassy hops and a strong caramel aroma. Golden amber-orange in color with a thin head. Great crisp caramel flavor that isn’t to sweet and a spicey, grassy finish. Really good this time, I was impressed.

Original rating 6/19/05 (7,3,5,2,9:2.6) Caramel/toffee aroma and noticable green olives, weird. Copper with amber around the edges and a thin white head. Sweet caramel and toffee flavor with some tart vinigar in the finish. Sweet and cloying in the back of the mouth.
Sampled from a growler shared by malachi following DL06: Pours a clear copper bronze with a nicely-lacing off-white head. Fresh, grainy caramel malty aroma has authentic noble hoppy balance. Body starts with a sweet toasted maltiness well balanced with good noble hoppiness. Very authentic and enjoyable. awaisanen (1304) - Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, USA - MAY 13, 2007
On tap at the brewery, downtown location. Pours a transparent, brassy golden color with a medium layer of fizzy off-white head. Lots of clean, toasted grains with a subtle herbal spicy hop character. A little bit of honey and a borderline jewish rye bread in the nose as well. Light bodied, crisply carbonated mouthfeel. Light and refreshing with a clean, dry palate. Lots of crisp malty grains, almost like chewing on some fresh vienna malt, as well as a noteworthy nuttiness. Gentle hop smack left in a cold lager finish. Amber color with a mderate ecru head. Sweet hops and malt aromas with a light clean lager nose. Pale malt sweetness throughout. Floral hops jump in the mix and help distact. A touch too sweet for my palate. JCapriotti (1379) - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA - MAY 22, 2004
Creamy white head, clear dark orange body. Aroma is sweet with strawberry, concord grapes, and maybe caramel. Very sweet taste fruity, again with some caramel. Too sweet for me.

Served on draught at the Wisconsin Micro-brewers Beerfest in Chilton, Wisconsin. Pours a clear dark golden colored brew with an average off-white head that has a slow dissolve to a fine film and white ring. Aroma of roasted caramel malt, some light raisin, honey with a mild grassy hop character. Taste is somewhere between medium to full bodied, light carbonation with flavors of semi-sweet caramel malt, honey, a touch of herbal spice and some raisin. Finish is semi-sweet, slightly bitter with a grassy and caramel aftertaste. Best served not so cold. Styles (2014) - Lincoln Park, Michigan, USA - JUL 18, 2010
Courtesy of malachi. Bright orangish color. Huge nutty/caramel combo up front. Fades to biscuity/grainy character, hints of fruit. Flavor much the same, caramel and faint fruit character. Creamy smooth mouthfeel. No hop character whatsoever. If not for color would pass for a regular bock. TXBadger (2811) - Dallas, Texas, USA - MAR 30, 2015
Pours a clear darker amber color with off-white head. Floral notes, caramel malt, and some grain on the nose; follows onto the palate. Finishes with a nice balance between the hops and malts. shrubber85 (11390) - Greenville, Indiana, USA - JUN 27, 2016
