Sampled from the tap at the brewpub. Pours a clear copper with a near white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has notes of sweet grains and straw with a hint of biscuit backing. Flavor is similar with sweet grains, bread and straw notes. jackl (8555) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - MAY 6, 2017
Keg @ Great Dane. Medium amber pour with a small head. Nose is malt-forward. Some glazed donut. Suggests a bit of booziness. Toasted grain. Light peppered grass. Flavor is a bit ragged. Some booze and windex. Soft plum fruit. Gentle grain. Medium body, very strong carb. Sort of a fiasco. muzzlehatch (4975) - Beloit, Wisconsin, USA - SEP 16, 2016
Several draught pints and glasses at the Hilldale location, 2014-16, most recently in early June of this year. Pours a darker amber-gold than I might expect, almost clear, with a bit of lasting head....caramel-malty nose, a touch of darker, smokier stuff, light herbal qualities...body is lightly syrupy, moderately sweet - honey and a bit of raisin or dates perhaps - not at all hoppy/bitter, faintly smoky/burnt/caramelized throughout, and a bit dryer and more burnt at the finish...low carbonation, a bit sticky. Fairly similar to Capital’s Maibock, which I like a little more (and really should re-rate next time I have it); it’s a bit much, a bit sticky in a pint sample, which is the main difference - the Capital is just more drinkable and less heavy to my taste. In any case both are good reasons to look forward to spring. shrubber85 (11706) - Greenville, Indiana, USA - JUN 27, 2016
Draft. Cherry, apple, toffee malt, and astringent alcohol aroma. Amber with small head. Moderately sweet apple-berry toffee malt and moderately bitter/astringent hay and alcohol flavor. Nice body. Solid. Nero55 (947) - Nevada, USA - MAY 11, 2015
Draft. Copper/bronze with small white head. Aroma of nuttyness, caramel, and some sweetness. Medium body, light caramel, toasted malt, and some hop bitterness. Not overly sweet.

Pours a clear darker amber color with off-white head. Floral notes, caramel malt, and some grain on the nose; follows onto the palate. Finishes with a nice balance between the hops and malts. jmcgavin12 (492) - Madison, USA - FEB 23, 2014
A clear amber pour with one finger of lacing white head. Aroma is very fruity with floral hop notes as well. The taste is a very well balanced blend of malt/caramel sweetness with a slight hoppy finish. A medium body and a great beer to end a week on. tmoreau (4743) - Lombard, Illinois, USA - MAY 11, 2012
Accompanied lunch on the day before GT ticket sales. On tap at the downtown Madison brewpub on Doty, and served to an imp. pint glass with a clear, amber hue, a modest amount of light tan, bubbles & cream head foam, and waves & spots of clingy lacing. The nose was light grain, a little sweetness, a touch of spice, and light hints of caramel and vanilla. A little better than softly carbonated, and medium bodied, the flavor also presented a low hop bitterness, light sweetness, and a subtle, finishing bitterness & dryness. Food complementary, quaffable, and fairly clean. Styles (2016) - Lincoln Park, Michigan, USA - JUL 18, 2010
Courtesy of malachi. Bright orangish color. Huge nutty/caramel combo up front. Fades to biscuity/grainy character, hints of fruit. Flavor much the same, caramel and faint fruit character. Creamy smooth mouthfeel. No hop character whatsoever. If not for color would pass for a regular bock.
