Served on draught at the Wisconsin Micro-brewers Beerfest in Chilton, Wisconsin. Pours a clear copper amber brew with a thin off-white head that quickly dissipates to a fine film and white ring. Aroma of multi-grain and caramel malt, a touch of peat, smoked wood and a touch of herbal spice. Taste is slightly sweet, medium bodied with very light carbonation, along with flavors of multi-grain malt, peat and a touch of vanilla bean. Finish is also semi-sweet with a malty after taste that slowly disappears. rcweir (139) - New Hampshire, USA - DEC 27, 2007

A nice color, but light body for Scotch ale. The flavor was faintly sweet, but had a good finish. A good middle of the road Scotch ale. kp (10880) - Woodstock, Georgia, USA - SEP 1, 2007

A little light on body for a scoth ale. Very dark in color, but not as rich and chocalety as i had hoped. This all may be way off as this was the last in a 6 glass sampler and i was all askew by then!

Chicago Trip. Sunday 20:34+. Sample tray. Very dark with ruby highlights. malty aroma with light earth tones. Some peat in the flavour with a little musty kick. Scubatrip (610) - Annandale, Virginia, USA - APR 12, 2007
On tap, tastes nicely malty, remarkably smooth. Very nice beer. Wish I had had more time at the airport to drink it slowly and write down my thoughts, but I will be ordering another one the next time I’m in Wisconsin. GeneralGao (3614) - Iowa City, Iowa, USA - FEB 18, 2007
Draft at the brewpub. Poured a clear orange brown color. Head was thin, off white, and left a bit of lace on the glass. Not much in the way of aroma other that light grainy malt. The same grainy note came out again in the flavor and was accompanied by malty caramel and a subdued nuttiness. Creamy, smooth, and slightly sweet on the tongue. Pours a clear dark auburn; thin head that leaves spots of lace. Dry, nutty, toasty grain aroma is a little unusual for a Scotch ale; this smells more like a standard brown ale. One sip removes all doubt that this is indeed a scotch ale: malty, chocolatey, creamy and sweet with a subued dry grain. A light hop presence shows up later. Smooth, creamy palate reminiscent of a nitro-drawn beer. This is one heck of a scotch ale.
(Tap) Pours an amber/brown color. Sweet toffee and nutty notes, with only a small amount of hops detectable. Not very balanced, but drinkable given the fact I only tried the sample. A so-so Scotch ale.
