Translucent amber brown with an edged head. Aroma is caramel malts, toffee and Fabreeze. Nice full mouth feel; some oiliness and wax. Flavors are caramel, butterscotch and toffee. Some maple syrup, like taking a bite of syrup covered pancakes that were kept on the griddle 30 seconds too long. Poured a very dark amber that is almost brown. The head is off white and slightly yellow. The aroma is deep caramel and vanilla. The taste has milk chocolate, caramel and vanilla. There is also a light hint of smoke. The body is a little thin. biz82 (1327) - austin, Texas, USA - APR 11, 2005

Sampled at the 3rd Annual "Between the Bluffs" Beer and Cheese Festival in La Crosse, WI. Appearance: tan head, clear brown body. No carbonation. Aroma is mild oakiness, mild chocolate, kinda weak. Flavor is chocolate, mild peatiness, oak cask, light coffee. Palate is a little dry, sweet tangy finish. Moderate mouthfeel. A bit sweet and malty for this type but alcohol was there. It was a good tasting beer.

tap at Brewpub-Fitchburg, WI-pours a copper hue with a small whtie head around glass edge. Malty sweet aroma-I didn’t get any peat, but i did get the dark caramel. i got maple surup also in the aroma. Big malty flavors consisting of maple surup, sliglty vineous, and caramelly. Growler: decent, though bubbly off-white head over a clear plum coloured body. Rich malty nose, with hints of peat, dark caramel, red grapes, and mud. Uneven palate that has some grit and also seems smooth at times. Flavours boast a huge bit of malt, but do have a small hop companion. Dark Amber Coloring. Caramel.... Not too harsh and not too nutty as some scottish’es tend to be. Or maybe it’s my bad luck.
