Had this one on draught as part of a four-sampler at the brewpub in Madison, Wisconsin. Clear, deep amber pour with a wispy head, floral nose, almost soapy in its perfume, very bitter and floral hoppiness, rose and some strawberry, strong finisih. Interesting but kind of weird.

Served on an engine at the downtown location. Pours a clear glowing orange with a brownish tint and a soapy beige head that laces all over. Florals, citrus, grapefruit, with fresh green hops. Lightly sweet caramels. Oranges and pine. Very creamy. Long pine and fresh green hop finish. Really fresh and so smooth from that engine. *note I also had it not on the engine and it lost a lot of the creaminess and fresh flavor.

On cask downtown. The body was clear copper with a very light colored khaki head. The aroma was earthy and floral with with lots of grapefruit. Like smelling fresh hops and fresh groudn grains. The taste has musk and leather with some sweat. Lots of grapefruit and toffee. Soft mouthfeel.

Pint at the downtown Madison location. Fitting orange hazy appearance with a velvety white head, it looks delicious. Fresh cut grass and citrus orange juice greet the nose, with some floral hop cones as well. Flavor is similar but with a pretty large twang all over the mouth, suggesting something isn’t quite right here. Cardboard creeps in along with the wet hop oils, and over time there’s flavors of medicinal lip balm and gauze. Low carbonation, almost cask-like but this is CO2, and it finishes with a bit of a vegetable note. Started well, ended poorly.

Tap from the downtown brewpub. Pours deep dark copper with a nice medium sized head that lasts. Aroma of pine, citrus and earthy malt. Taste is mostly the same as the aroma. Good bitterness and good earthy and sweet finish. Somewhat of a heavy brew. Great balance on this.

On tap at the brewpub on 6/22/07: Pours a transparent bright copper with a well-lacing froth of white head. Aroma of sweet caramel malt and big fresh grapefruity presence. Body starts full with nice caramel sweet balance with good citrusy bittering and flavor hops before a smooth, bittersweet finish. A nice IPA.

kseecs16 (1216) - Naperville, Illinois, USA - SEP 3, 2007
Pint from the cask at the downtown pub. Very full hops with a characteristic cask silkiness. Appeared copper with reddish hue. Very dry lingering no frills hop flavor. Nice and hoppy, but a bit one dimensional. Regardless this is a nice hop fix.

Very good stuff, my fave IPA from GD. Rich hop aroma, good orangish color and hops that coat the back of your throat. I agree that it lacks carbonation, in a good way. Could drink a few of these in a sitting for sure

hopdog (12510) - Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA - JUL 23, 2007
On tap at the Great Dane Brew Pub (Downtown Madison Location). On cask. Poured a medium and cloudy / murky orange color a small sized off white head. Aromas of citrus, light caramel, and some pine. Tastes of caramel, citrus, and lighter pine. Nicely balanced.
