On tap at the new East side location, pours a dark brown with a thin tan head and some lacing in the glass, aroma was of spices mixed in with vanilla and a hint of toffee, this was very sweet with a little too much vanilla in it but has a nice back end of spices that tone it out better, not bad. Sweet, molasses aroma with hints of brown sugar and butter along with some vanilla and clove. Cookie dough. No visible carbonation. Dark brownish clear body. Off-white head. Not much lace. Small head. Sour flavor; very nice. Interesting and actually pretty good. footbalm (1219) - Western Minneapolis Suburbs, Minnesota, USA - FEB 5, 2006
From a growler courtesy of Badgerben.Had soft nose and flavor of mulling spices with some sweet malts.A nice surprise for me.Had a nice thick feel on the tongue and a lasting spicey flavor. jewedekind (450) - Middleton, Wisconsin, USA - FEB 4, 2006
An onyx gem in the glass. Clear, but nearly opaque deep brown -black. Thinnest of off-white head. Nice delicate lacing. Nice spicy nose, like a Red Hot candy. Taste is vanilla way up front that carries over to all stages. Cinnamon and allspice. Surprisingly bitter for such a big-looking beer. Very well done, but a bit too much vanilla for me. Like the Viking juleol, this beer reminds me of Christmas. Overall a very mild beer, but it has cinamon and lots of nutmeg, giving it an eggnog-like flavor. Dark brown. Christmasy.

Dark brown with only a slight hint of tan head. Lots of vanilla, and coffee notes in the aroma. Cinnamon, clove, vanilla, and maybe some hints of cranberry. An interesting twist on the porter...I like it. DavidP (1748) - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA - JAN 28, 2006
Sample tap @ downtown location. Almost opaque dark brown body, small tan head. Honey, cherry, strong pale malt in the aroma with chocolate at the end. Big sweet flavor - strong cherry pale malt that slpits into some roast malt and some basic caramel sweetness. Then an interesting cinnamon/peppermint spicing in the finish that keeps it from being all sweetness. Medium+ mouthfeel with low carbonation. A BW that’s not going to kick your ass but has stil a complex and enjoyable profile. When I took the first sip I was genuinly suprised at the interesting fruit/sweet flavors - most definitely not what I had in mind for the winter warmer "style"! hezron (614) - Viroqua, Wisconsin, USA - JAN 28, 2006
Aroma is full of cinnamon, pumpkin pie like spices and a weird fruitiness that reminds me of cranberries. Color is dark, dark brown with a thin, off-white head. Flavor is very sweet and spiced, like cranberries mixed up with lots of pumpkin pie spices, cinnamon being the most prominent. Just like badgerben said, a mulled porter. Medium bodied wit h a slightly creamy texture and a fairly dry finish. badgerben (5251) - Blaine, Minnesota, USA - JAN 17, 2006
Black color with a thin head. Aroma is a light wave of vanilla. Oh damn... the taste is outstanding! A wonderful blend of cinnamon, allspice, cloves and sweet candied orange with a vanilla finish to it. It’s like a perfectly mulled porter. Damn fine!
