NOTF 2010. Deep black pour with a tight head. The nose is intense and a little bit cocoaish. Tarry and earthy. Its soft and a little bit of the heavy roastiness has been rounded off - a little bit of soft earthiness. Lightly herbal and pretty nice.

On tap at Avery Sourfest 2012. Poured a deep, opaque, brown, almost black with a khaki head and good lacing. Smell is dark fruit, some light brett, cocoa nibs, dill, and a hint of espresso. Taste is cocoa, light tartness, bitter coffee, funk, and acid. Doesnt really taste good, kind of all over the place and somewhat weird. Good body and mouthfeel, but a very out-of-balance brew. Meh.

Pour on tap at Avery Sourfest 2012, dark brownish black pour with thin tan head, aroma brought notes of vinegar, burnt malts, some toast, slight acetic and lactic notes, hints of red berry, cocoa come through, hints of chocolate. Taste is similar with some dark berry, vinegar, chocolate, hints of intense funk with a slight roasted and coffee flavor, finishing fairly bitter and slight lactic. Pretty tasty, even though I had my doubts.

Bottled on Mar 04. Aroma of roasted malts, dark chocolate, and toffee. Appearance is black with a little bit of head. Front has taste of toffee and roastiness. Back is a little bitter with a dark chocolate taste. All in all of very good imperial stout

@ Avery Sourfest 2012. Black with no head. Smells super rich and cloying with notes of chocolate, vanilla, and Brett yeast. Tasted kinda sour and sweet, with predominating notes of sour oak, and cloying sweet chocolate and roasted black grains. Seems like its more rich and powerful than its normal form, and Im not terribly fond of it..

Tap @ Avery SourFest III. Black appearance with a dark brown head. Dark chocolate, coffee, somewhat red fruity, lightly tart aroma. Red fruity, acetic, dark berry, a bit funky, coffee, chocolate flavor. Seemed like kind of a dumb idea and it didnt come together all that well.

Ugh. Im a fan of Yeti and most of the variants, and this was by far the worst Ive had. A messy, confused, disjointed blend of typical Yeti characteristics (chocolate, coffee, viscosity, etc) with cheap balsamic vinegar and a finish like licking a drywall spatula. Gotta love the American craft beer motto: "Because we can."

Interesting beer. Im a huge Yeti fan so had to try this. Pours a dark black with a bit thinner body and translucent edges than the normal. Dark thin oily head that quickly fades. Aroma is very much the same dark roasted malts but some sour notes come through with warmth and air. Hits like a normal yeti up front with sweet malt and dark chocolate but this is wiped away in very short order by a medium tart acidity. More of a novelty thing for me...was good with a mushroom and sausage pizza with white sauce.

Dark black with tan head. Aroma is mild roast and mushrooms. Taste is less roasty and hoppy then regular Yeti. Very smooth silky texture.
