COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Named for a medieval Scottish sword, Claymore Scotch ale is a tribute to the legendary "Wee Heavy" beers of Scotland. A malty, deep-ruby-hued ale, it features a generous amount of caramel sweetness, a reserved hop profile and a subtle warming character, at 7.7% alcohol by volume. Claymore will be available in six-packs and on draft through mid-April.

12oz bottle at home. Clear dark amber brown with a thin off-white head. Dark fruits, molasses, caramel, toffee, nuts, sweet roasty malt. A little on the light side for a Scotch ale, still very good.

ebone1988 (2078) - Dearborn, Michigan, USA - OCT 19, 2017
Bottle from Merchants. Aroma is metallic, caramel, toffee, earthy hops, some roasted malt. Appearance is very dark brown, light brown head, I'm starting to wonder if this is actually Yeti. Taste is earthy hop, metallic, roasted malt, caramel, toffee, bitter yet sweet, way off. Mouthfeel is medium to heavy body, light carbonation, vanilla caramel metallic bitter aftertaste. Overall, not sure where this one became a Scotch Ale. Pretty sure I just don't like this brewery.

Smoked flavours, bacon, dark, toasted malts. Clear, very dark brown, small, off-white head. Heavy sweet. More sweet chocolate, sweet grain and bread malts, dark molasses, soft carbonation, medium bodied. Nice aroma but bizarrely sweet in palate.

Zlotta (3734) - Hagen / Düsseldorf, GERMANY - SEP 2, 2017
0.355 l bottle from 'BierPost.com', bottled in October 2016. Clear, dark reddish brown with a thin, frothy, slowly diminishing, beige head. Sweetish-malty, slightly roasty aroma of caramel, toasted nuts and milk chocolate. Rather sweet, malty, slightly roasty taste of caramel, toasted nuts and milk chocolate with hints of dark fruits, followed by a medium long, slightly roasty, quite bitter finish. Medium body, slightly creamy and moderately effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Quite sweet and not overly sophisticated but easily drinkable and saturating.

Brown and opaque with a thin cream head. Deep malt aroma, caramel, and a touch of shoe leather. Toffee and dark red fruit with a touch of heat.

tricksta_p (5025) - Steenwijk, NETHERLANDS - AUG 7, 2017
Bottle from Flink Gegist, Delft. Aroma is big caramel malt, toffee, toasted malt, burnt sugar, touch of dried dark fruit with a hint of peat and coffee adding some subtle complexity. Flavour is pretty sweet with a light bitterness in the finish. Body is above medium. Very decent example of the style.
