COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Named for a medieval Scottish sword, Claymore Scotch ale is a tribute to the legendary "Wee Heavy" beers of Scotland. A malty, deep-ruby-hued ale, it features a generous amount of caramel sweetness, a reserved hop profile and a subtle warming character, at 7.7% alcohol by volume. Claymore will be available in six-packs and on draft through mid-April.

Bottle: Thanks, Justen! Deep brown, highly opaque center with lighter edges; off-white, slightly beige head settles quick to a thin, swampy layer atop the beer. Aroma is muted, notes of polished mahogany, sweet & toasted malt, roasted cocoa powder undertones, & a touch of faint smoke. Taste has a mostly toasted malt backbone with big notes of wood, nuts, & a little musk with some mid-palate caramel, toffee, & faint buttery sweetness. Hops makes a larger appearance; weedy, earthy, musky, & a little ashy. Finish contains some timid charcoal & moderate smoke, edging towards peat-like. Warmth brings out some prunes, raisins, & apple skins. Overall, a nice combo of yeast, smoke, spice, malt, & hops when all is said & done.

355ml bottle bought at Vinmonopolet Hamar.. Deep dark ruby body. Low, off-white head. Spotty lacing. Aroma of brown malts and raisin. Flavours of brittle caramel, dark dough and dreid fruits. Drying, malt-fruity finish. Fine bodied. Like it. (Shared with Johnny, Leif, Gunnbjrg and Dag Erik, Ottestad 05.03.2017).

Bottle. Reddish in colour, creamy head. Lots of melanoidins, dried fruits, nice maltiness and caramel notes too. Medium body, smooth. Finish is quite dry and medium bitter. Tasty.

Minimal beige head immediately left flotsam on a dark brown still body. Rich aroma of dark fruits, demerara, & some dark spirits. Thick, almost chewy texture. Leaves a clean prickly feel on the back. To the fore this is sweet, syrup, brown sugar, slightly malty, dark fruits & hints of malt. This gradually changes over the tongue to tangy back with apricot, grape & an almost barrel aged aft.

Fra flaske p Mi2 Cardinal feb-17: brunsvart nesten uten skum, og akkurat nok karbonert til at inntrykkene kommer til sin rett. Sjokolade, mrke karameller, dessertkaffe. Myk bitterhet i den lange ettersmaken. Slank for sin voltstyrke, et velsmakende, maltdrevet l som fikk mange fornyde smil rundt bordet.

caramel, slightly roasty, nuts, brown, minimal head, light sweetness, medium body, oily feel, minimal carbonation, not a very long finish. Felt very light for a scotch ale.

Poured from a 12 OZ bottle into a pint glass at Taco Mac in Atlanta. The appearance is a clear dark brown color with a medium sized tan head. The aroma is roasted malt and some caramel. The taste is very close to the nose. An excellent beer.
