COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Named for a medieval Scottish sword, Claymore Scotch ale is a tribute to the legendary "Wee Heavy" beers of Scotland. A malty, deep-ruby-hued ale, it features a generous amount of caramel sweetness, a reserved hop profile and a subtle warming character, at 7.7% alcohol by volume. Claymore will be available in six-packs and on draft through mid-April.

Bottle. Cant comment on the pour. Drank it straight from the neck. Hey, thats how I roll! I guess that leaves aroma out too. Dang it. Hey, it was at a family dinner, so I adapted! I loved this beer. HUGE fan of scotch ales. This one was roasty and malty with some thick sugary sweetness.

Bottle from Vinmonopolet in Valkendorfsgate, Bergen. Pours a deep ruby-hued bronze body with a small off-white head. Nose is caramel, raisins, grains, deep malty notes and hints of dark syrup and smoke. Taste is caramel, toffee, deep malts, burnt sugar and hints of dark syrup, vanilla and faint smoke. Medium to full body, medium carbonation. A bit on the sticky side of the sweetness spectrum IMO and I lack a bit more complexity and perhaps even more smoke. Still a decent enough Scotch ale.

Brown with ruby hue, lingering head. Aroma roastiness, milk chocolate. Palate medium, low carbonation. Taste sweet and bit cloying. Licorice, cough syrup. Watery and empty. Disappointment for me.

Taste: Toasted rye malt, spice, caramel, rich notes, maybe some peat. Smokey malt nose. Mahogany color, semi clear, tan lacy head. Medium body. A solid "Wee Heavy" scotch ale for the Fall.

Bottle, Brewdog online. Rich brown colour, off white head. Quite a straightforward rich malty beer with a fairly clean yeast character and not much hop flavour. Drinks easily for 7.7%, smooth. Caramel, malt, golden syrup rather than treacle. Solid.

Pours dark cola brown with almost no head. Roasted and smokey aroma with caramel and some dark fruits. Taste is similar with some smoke, tar, caramel and dark fruits. A littel bit thin and syrupy.

bottle @ Belmont Party Supply / Dayton OH --- bottled: Aug 20 2016 --- Aroma of dark roasted malt. Clear very dark ruby brown color, tan head that drops to a thin cover, hanging strands of lace. Taste is rich dark roasted malt with a caramel base that moves through medium carbonation to neutral bittering and light smoke. Solid brew that has the misfortune of causing bloating as I drink it. A big gulp tastes so refreshing, and then tries in vain for the relief of a belch. Too bad.
