COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Named for a medieval Scottish sword, Claymore Scotch ale is a tribute to the legendary "Wee Heavy" beers of Scotland. A malty, deep-ruby-hued ale, it features a generous amount of caramel sweetness, a reserved hop profile and a subtle warming character, at 7.7% alcohol by volume. Claymore will be available in six-packs and on draft through mid-April.

Elwood (3336) - Leesburg, Virginia, USA - FEB 5, 2013
Serving: 12 oz. bottle from State Line Liquors. It pours a deep ruddy color with a dense light tan head. The nose is all malt with dark caramel and earth notes. The flavor starts of with a mild sweetness followed by lots of chewy malt, toffee, earth, and slight roasted notes. As the beer warmed an unpleasant plastic note started to emerge. Medium to full bodied with average carbonation. Overall I enjoyed it until the plastic notes started to come out.

Brown and opaque with a thin cream head. Deep malt aroma, caramel, and a touch of shoe leather. Toffee and dark red fruit with a touch of heat.

Bottle from Flink Gegist, Delft. Aroma is big caramel malt, toffee, toasted malt, burnt sugar, touch of dried dark fruit with a hint of peat and coffee adding some subtle complexity. Flavour is pretty sweet with a light bitterness in the finish. Body is above medium. Very decent example of the style.

Malty and caramel, dark ruby with a thin ocher head, light/medium body, not too carbonated, taste is similar with strong notes of caramel, some fruity notes and a good bitter final...quite balanced but not my favorite wee heavy.

3.6
hauxe (833) - Butzbach, Hesse, GERMANY - JUN 1, 2017
Pours brown with a tan, creamy head. Aroma is earthy, lightly smokey, with obvious caramel and hints of cherry. Taste is sweet with notes of honey and caramel, but with an underlying burnt brown sugar bitterness. A faint sourness is also present, especially going into the finish. The interesting mix of sweet/bitter/sour is the beers strength, at the same time it all comes across with perhaps a touch too much modesty. Theres nothing earth shattering here, just a pleasant cup. Body is medium, perhaps a touch too much carbonation. Probably drank it a couple degrees to cold. Very pleasant.
