COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Named for a medieval Scottish sword, Claymore Scotch ale is a tribute to the legendary "Wee Heavy" beers of Scotland. A malty, deep-ruby-hued ale, it features a generous amount of caramel sweetness, a reserved hop profile and a subtle warming character, at 7.7% alcohol by volume. Claymore will be available in six-packs and on draft through mid-April.

KajII (801) - Macon, North Carolina, USA - SEP 28, 2012
12oz Bottle. The pour was a very dark brown with a slight ruby hue and an average (1-2 finger) light tan creamy head that was mostly diminishing, down to a thin film with a small collar and fair streaky lacing. The aroma was of a roasted caramel malt, a very mild resin hop and a sweet leathery yeast with notes of molasses, toffee, chocolate and some dark fruit (prunes and figs). The taste was malty and sweet with a hint of molasses and mild chocolate presence at first, and then progressed with a little toffee sweetness, a touch of dark fruit and a mild bitter finish. The flavor was short lived and steadily faded at a moderate pace from the taste buds. Mouthfeel was a hair below medium in body and rather creamy in texture with a pretty much flat carbonation. Overall a nice sweet and robust brew, with a great feel and an awesome drinkability...

[email protected], from Beer Republic. Strong/medium nuances of caramel, chocolate, a hint of smokey meat/butter and slightly sour dark fruits. Averagely balanced. Medium/wide taste spectrum and medium aftertaste with metal flavored caramel and some smoke. Medium body with medium/light carbonation. Overall, bit artificial but nicely bold nuances for the percentage. Drinkable though not so high fidelity.

Taphouse tap. Blackish, big brown cream. Nice roast aroma, light paint thinner, fruits, nuts, cocoa. Medium body, mellow. Dry chocolate, fudge, caramel, a hint smoke, fruity notes, good hop aromatics on top.

Bottle from Beer Republic, dated Feb 03 2017. Almost clear redbrown color, short frothy head. Aroma of tobacco, butterscotch and some smokey meat. Meaty flavors, bit sweet, caramelized onions, slight spicy. This would do great in a stew I guess. Enjoyable.

commonmac (1370) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - DEC 21, 2017
12oz bottle acquired by secret Santa means through Highendtully. Darker ruby coloring with off white head. Nose is caramel malty with a slight toffee presence. Almost a chocolate element. Taste is less sweet than expected with a strong roasted malt and an underlying dark fruit characteristic. Slightly thin mouthfeel at the onset but lingers well at the end. Actually hides the alcohol well. Reminiscent of a grape peel at the finish... like what you get from wine tannins. An above average scotch ale.

A superior Scotch Ale. Rich, smooth, malty, with a fairly high ABV and without any alcohol burn. Just smoky and sweet enough not to be cloying. Poured into goblet, it presents a near perfect sipping opportunity. Great Divide has brewed great ale!

Vom Fass im Stone Brewing Berlin 2017-11 getrunken. Ein wunderbares, typisches WeeHeavy mit einen schönen malzigen, vollen Körper und doch ist es gefährlich süffig. Ein feines Teil - lecker!

bottle. Deep amber brown with one finger head. Sweet with caramel and toffee. Light booze. Smooth with surprising depth. This isn't a style I generally dig, but this was excellent.
