3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
A frothy white head dances on top of this pale yellow brew. Slight haze, typical of the style. Hints of lemon, Belgian yeast, spicy hops and fresh grains in the nose. The flavor is awash in balanced complexity, with not nearly as much Belgian funkiness as one would expect; rather, this saison showcases hefty doses of bready grains and spicy hop kisses. The yeast providing just enough phenolics and fruitiness to highlight a lemon character on the finish with just a hint of sweetness. Everything in terrific balance here. Dry, slightly astringent finish, but that is welcome in my ideal saisons. So it’s not as funky as some of the best Belgian versions, but it’s better than a lot of those. This could probably be considered more of a Strong Belgian Pale Ale, but then we’d just be splitting hairs...underrated.
Tart and funky aroma. Hazy orange color with a fluffy white head. Tastes of Belgian yeast, slightly sweet, funky and not tart enough. Refreshing with a palate that is great for the style - dense and slick with slight carbonation. tlind2 (1792) - Helsinki, FINLAND - DEC 3, 2017
Bottle. Cloudy straw color, white head. Fruity aroma (apricot?) with sugary malts. Taste follows after with some spicy notes and a hint of lemon. Medium-full body, high carbonation. Not bad, fairly good pairing with brie. rouhlas (3885) - Thessaloniki, GREECE - NOV 27, 2017

Bottle, gift from Helsinki. BB in two months. Pours near clear gold with small off-white head. Yeast, some yellow stone fruits, not too refreshing, kinda savoury, slight coriander-like spiciness, finishes dry and yeasty. Would probably be somewhat better very fresh. Not a fan. I think my first Saison with rice... blynde77 (22) - - OCT 1, 2017
Flavorful, slightly aromatic, and light colored. Not as strong as other farmhouse ales, but solid taste and good finish.
