UPDATED: MAR 30, 2012 draft @ Great Divide Taproom. faint nose becomes more expressive when warmer: cereal grains, honey, semi-sweet corn-scented pilsner malt. has some rough calcium and sulfur notes that become stronger with time/warmth. hops are lightly pungent and lightly grassy. there’s a sweet spot for this beer, about 10-15 minutes after being poured, where the malt snappiness and crispness from lagering are both spot-on. alas, it fades not soon after, with both sulfur and calcium carbonate growing to almost unpleasant levels. throughout I’m wondering if this is simply the Nomad (Damon backwards) left unfiltered. if so, it’s certainly an improvement, and shows just how much stripping via filtration can ruin a decent beer.
