COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brewing with fresh hops is a big endeavor, requiring four to five times the hop volume compared to using pelletized hops. Although the process is complex, it brings impressive results: Fresh Hop is an American-style pale ale with moderate hop bitterness marked by a unique and intensely grassy hop flavor and aroma. Fresh Hop is a superbly refreshing, medium bodied, light-copper colored pale ale weighing in at 55 IBUs and 6.1% ABV.

This beer is just awesome!. Gorgeous on the initial pour with over an inch of head. The color if a nice golden amber. Very fresh from the bottle and bottled on just the 23rd of September. Medium bodied but really almost drinks like a light bodied beer. I smell a very floral/citrus combo on the nose along with subtle hints of straw. Slight nuances of malts hidden in there. Great lacing of the glass there as well. Awesome head retention. On the palate i am getting fresh citrus notes, floral hints, resiny, sticky mouth feel there as well. A bitter but very balanced hop bite through to the finish. Fantastic!

The Fresh Hop Pale Ale pours a dark amber color and settles into a medium amber body. The medium fizzy off-white head was mostly diminishing with excellent lacing. The nose detected a strong hop presence with notes of pine and wet grass. The harsh initial bitter taste lasted for quite sometime moving into a moderately bitter taste on the palate for an tremendously long duration. Creamy with soft carbonation and lively carbonation, the Fresh Hop Pale Ale had a strong presence of hops. This pale ale stands above the crowd with its strong hop presence. Its not a well balanced beer, but the hoppiness packs a strong bitter punch.

Its smells delicious - Ian. For non hop heads, stay away and let us enjoy this special brew - Sean. Reviewed on January 11th, 2007.

UPDATED: NOV 11, 2010 One of the best beers I have tasted in approximately 38 years of drinking beer. (Ok the first 10 years - ages 15-25 were pretty much wasted on crappy beer - I didnt know better) . This beer, a 1. 5 pint bomber bottled on Sept 29, 2009, was so incredibly delicious that I immediately purchased 2 cases from my local distributor (Pennsylvania has great beer but extremely antiquated beer laws - case only). Imagine the best, most fresh tasting , most hoppy full bodied pale ale you have ever had in your life, and this beer is it. Nirvana, the beer.

UPDATED: DEC 2, 2007 22oz Bottle. Pours golden with a trace of amber, has a generous slightly off-white head that dissipates pretty quickly. The aroma is overwhelming with hop freshness. To anyone that has ever homebrewed, it is like openeing a pack of hops and sticking your nose in the package. The flavor however is slightly off to me. I LOVE HOPS, dont get me wrong, but you need a little more malt body than this to carry off this amount of hoppiness. It is very close though, and I did enjoy it.

On draught at the Draught House in Austin. Great aroma, very northwest. It has a medium body with a nice crystal malt sweetness. Yes, its pretty bitter and has some earthiness but this is balanced with the body and sweetness. Very nice as it warms, too. Great beer.

Bottle. Pours a nice amber color, clear, with a large, white frothy head. Aromas of hops, grapefruit, lime, and a bit of lemon. Mouthfeel is nice with a smooth start, lively middle and sticky finish. Flavors of hops, grapefruit, and hints of citrus. Overall a very good beer - buy it.

I poured a 22 oz bottle into a snifter, where it sat reddish-orange - the color of an ipa, really - beneath a generous 1.5-finger off-white head. This reduced to soap suds and abundant lacing as I drank it down. Aromas of grass and pine (as advertised!) mingled with the toasty, biscuity malts suggested by the deep color, and flavors followed suit. Hopping is surprisingly subtle for a wet hop ale, but make themselves known in a generally balanced and fresh-from-the-barrel experience. Deliciously fresh and surprisingly complex , this is best compared to FFFs Alpha King as an apa that stands up to the best craft brews of any style.

Bottle: I really liked this beer when if first came out but having one recently found it didnt taste nearly as good. I am not sure if this is feshness or memory. The body is much maltier and thicker than a usual pale, bitterness is moderate with lots of hop flavor. Neutral hop flavor, not particularly citrusy or spicy. Bitterness s closer to ipa then pale. Average beer when not fresh.

Clear orange pour with a small white head. Laces nicely. Piney aroma. Citrusy front end with a bitter finish. Crisp on the tongue. If you’re a hophead, give this a try.
