COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Hoppier, maltier and with more alcohol than a standard IPA, Hercules Double IPA definitely is not for the faint of heart. Hercules Double IPA is, however, an elixir fit for the gods. A brash but creamy wonder, Hercules pours a deep orange-coppery color, forming substantial lace in the glass. Hercules Double IPA delivers a huge amount of piney, floral, and citrusy hop aroma and flavor from start to finish. A hefty backbone of nutty, toffee-like malt character balances Hercules’ aggressive, punchy hop profile. 85 International Bittering Units (IBUs).

12 oz bottle from De Bierkoning @ home. Nice to see this return to the Lowlands after several years of absence, it gives me another chance to rate it. Clear light amber color. Steady white head, with some lacing. Aroma’s: fruity, citrus, mango, pineapple, flowery hops. Retronasal it’s sweet fruits, dark fruits, malty sweet. Flavor is bitter with a malty moderate sweet backbone. Above medium bodied. Long somewhat earthy bitter finsh, a bit ashy even. Good stuff.

Wait, am I drinking a Sierra Nevada Torpedo? Hercules definitely reminds me of something very familiar, naturally another DIPA. Therefore it joins the ranks of top quality brews. Can I get kicked off Ratebeer for plagiarism? I’m on my seventh full pour review of the day and rapidly losing it. It’s not plagiarism if I cite my source, so hat’s off to a Mr. rodbeermunch over on BA. "Good orange pour on this one, 3/5" off white head. Aroma drops them old school hops and a big wave of alcohol. Taste hits the high 90ibu bitter notes, lots of hefty malt here, crystal malt, english pale malt, two row it seems. Lots of grapefruit. Straddles barleywine territory for sure. Bitterness is definitely the first and last thing you grasp on this one. Not as boozy as it smells. Enjoyable but you better be ready for the big bitter time. Don’t come here looking for any of your fruity melon and citrus hops." I concur, but as a lifelong carpenter I’m unclear about the 3/5". Three-fifths of an inch? I need a drink...

Malty, floral, notes of tropical, deep golden with a good and persistant white head, medium body, medium carbonaton, very intense floral notes...extremely pleasant.
