COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Hoppier, maltier and with more alcohol than a standard IPA, Hercules Double IPA definitely is not for the faint of heart. Hercules Double IPA is, however, an elixir fit for the gods. A brash but creamy wonder, Hercules pours a deep orange-coppery color, forming substantial lace in the glass. Hercules Double IPA delivers a huge amount of piney, floral, and citrusy hop aroma and flavor from start to finish. A hefty backbone of nutty, toffee-like malt character balances Hercules aggressive, punchy hop profile. 85 International Bittering Units (IBUs).

I loved the hops in this one, citrusy, abit of malt too, Poured a huge head, very warming, a little alcohol burn, but I couldnt wait to have this one! Thanks to Secret santa for this one!

22oz. bomber, thanks to Joeec5 for picking some up for me. Pretty copper color with a large beige head that stayed around for a while. Big citrus hop aroma with some biscuity malt in the background. Bitter citrus hop flavor that was tamed somewhat by a nice sweet malty backbone. Very enjoyable.

Sprucey grapefruit nose with some sweet caramel malts in the background; building citrus hopping over buttery caramel maltiness; modest body for the style, though still thick, with a round palate; slick, smooth and very drinkable. Quite nice.

Bottle. UNDRINKABLE. No balance between hops and malt. Too bitter and dry to fathom. I could not drink this beer. WAY too hoppy. The finish was very very dry. At least the aroma was pleasant and hoppy. That was the only good part of the beer.

A bit chunky out of the bottle I had. But a very decent I.P.A. overall. Nice hops aroma and good dry finish. Lacing was very good as well.

UPDATED: DEC 29, 2005 Bottle. Pours hazy copper orange. Quarter inch head that laces nicely. Stong aroma of hops, grapefruit, and some pine. As you would expect, hops dominate the flavor, but has an adequate amount of sweetness in the malt to give it SOME balance. A tad amount of alcohol in the otherwise hoppy bitter finish, that lingers nicely. A very solid beer and good example of the style. I would go back to this one again.

Hazy bronze-orange color beneath a creamy head. Caramel, melon and citrus come through in the aroma.A dry citric hop bitterness hits the tounge imediately, followed by a slight toffee sweetnees. Some toasty, nutty qualities are noticed before the hops takeover the flavor again with a little citrus and dry bitter finish.

Bottle, at RBESG grand tasting, August 2005. Hazy orange colour. Intense grapefruit and pine aroma & flavour. The aroma is sweetish, but its quite tart of the palate. Theres not much other than the hops here, but its a very fine example.

GreenDragon (219) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 5, 2005
UPDATED: DEC 30, 2005 Pours with a large creamy white head that leaves a lot of lacing on a cloudy orange body. Strong aroma of citric hops with floral undertones. Strong hoopy taste with the florals comming in first and the citric hops finishing up on a dry, alcoholic body. This is the sort of beer you can imagine Sean Connery or Michael Caine drinking as they build the British Empire!
