3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
bottle poured into a snifter
a: nice amber brown hue, large off white head with pretty good retention.
s: piney hop aroma catches my nose, followed by slight citrus and biscuit
t: a nice piney and citrus taste followed by buscuit at caramel. Pretty well balanced , this DIPA is more sweeter than most.
m&d: medium body, little carbonation. Slightly slick and buttery mouth.
12 oz bottle unfortunately shared by ebone1988. The pour is a dark amber orange color with a thin ring of off white head that leaves some soapy ish lace behind. The aroma is just not good. There is an absolute explosion of malt. Hint of pine. There is a caramel and an earthy hop. This just isn’t good at all. It’s a malty mess with a bitter something happening. The flavor is even worst. It’s like sucking on caramel pine resin. Garbage. Citrus zest, heavy malt. Hardly any hop. The bitterness comes from that. No thanks. The mouth feel is medium bodied and softly carbonated with a terrible finish. This is just hot garbage. For a beer they advertise as a nectar fit for the gods, I wouldn’t even waste this steaming pile on an enematic event. No bueno. 5 3 4 2 9 ebone1988 (1925) - Dearborn, Michigan, USA - JUL 23, 2017
Bottle shared with koleminer20, for the book. Aroma is booze, sweet citrus, pine, sweet caramel malt, grain, unremarkable. Appearance is amber, light tan head, clear. Taste is sticky, caramel, pine, bitter, slight tropical fruit, just a totally unbalanced malt bomb, ridiculous to see this is in the 99th percentile. Total mess. Mouthfeel is medium body, light carbonation, Matt states this is "like chewing on a caramel pine cone," and I believe he aptly nailed it. Overall, this may be one of the most overrated beers I’ve ever tasted. oobawa (1405) - Tennessee, USA - JUL 19, 2017
Brutally massive hop monster, big on resinous, clingy bitterness, bigger on sweet, nutty caramel malts to offset all those powerful IBUs. Orange and apricot mix with deep veins of honey-biscuit and pine, with an earthy undertone leading to a lasting hop-fueled finish. Only grows more alluring as it warms, bringing out even greater malt complexity backed by extreme pinecone vitriol. Aroma seems a tiny bit lacking for such a giant hop-bomb, but the pour’s gorgeous, a glowing orange-red with ample head and endless lacing. Good texture as well, sparkly with a slight hint of boozy warmth. Classic DIPA. Tjeerd (548) - GERMANY - JUL 2, 2017
Mooie ronde, volle smaak. Lange afdronk; is ook niet raar met het hoge ABV. Niet al te bitter maar compleet en in balans. Ga ik zeker weer drinken. Koelschtrinker (20399) - Köln (Cologne), GERMANY - JUN 28, 2017
Frischer, intensiv hopfiger Antrunk. Hopfig-herb im Mittelteil, Noten von Alkohol, intensiv. Trocken, der Alkohol steigt an. Rund, langer getreidig hopfiger, etwas karamelliger Nachhall. 10/9/10/11//9

Can. Pine resiny hop aroma with notes of grapefruit, tropical fruit and toffee malt. Pours clear caramel colored with a large tan head that has excellent retention and good lacing. Starts with toffee malt and tropical fruit flavors with grapefruit acidity in the background. Finishes very dry and quite bitter with the grapefruit coming to the forefront with bitter pine resiny hops at the end. Pretty nice, but the ending is very bitter. 35,5cl bottle at home. Appearance: rich golden with medium off-white head and lots of yeast flocculations. Aroma: orange, berries, tropical fruits, citrus and anise. Taste: fairly high sweetness and high bitterness. Notes of orange, tea, lemon, caramel, pine, tropical fruits and a hint of anise. Palate: medium bodied, watery texture and lively carbonation. Medium aroma of malts, caramel, orange, tropical fruit, pine, bread, hops and citrus.
Turbid amber/orange beer with a slight/medium off-white/beige head.
Starts medium/heavy sweet with malts, caramel, orange, tropical fruit and pine; ends slightly bitter and dry with bread, hops and citrus.
This beer is rather intense, complex and balanced. Not that much flavour for its abv to be honest. Especially the aroma is too soft to give it a high mark. Great appearance and palate though.
